Chapter 525
Sanford didn’t reply to Jennifer. Furious, Jennifer hurled her phone across the room, clutching her throbbing forehead with one hand. Her phone vibrated twice. Thinking it must be Sanford replying, Jennifer immediately grabbed it to check. But it was from Donald instead.
Donald texted Jennifer anxiously. [The Lynn family is in crisis. That viral video has alarmed Hayden. I have to rush home right away and won’t be back tonight. Make sure you lock the doors when you sleep alone.]
Tears streamed down Jennifer’s face. With trembling fingers, she typed and sent a single word. [Okay.]
Sanford’s video spread like wildfire, amassing over half a million likes in just a few hours. But then, Sanford’s video was abruptly taken down and his account was suspended, flagged for spreading false information. He just scoffed in disdain.
‘Did they really think suspending my account would silence public opinion?‘ Sanford thought to himself, clearly unimpressed.
He wasn’t in any hurry to create a new one; all he had to do now was wait for Jonathan to make the first move. The caller, however, turned out to be an elderly man. “You posted that video, right?”
“Who is this?” Sanford asked warily.
“I’m Hayden, Jonathan’s grandfather. If every word you’ve said is true, then I suppose that makes me your grandfather too, doesn’t it?” Hayden said.
Sanford suddenly fell silent, his mind reeling. He just couldn’t bring himself to call this man grandpa.
Hayden sighed Keavily, “Where are you now? Come to the Lynn residence. If everything you’ve said is true, I will see that justice is served for both you. and your mother.”
“Okay.” Sanford hung up.
But just as Sanford was about to head to the Lynn residence, a call came in from Shaville.
“Ms. Thomas has been hospitalized. Please return to Shaville immediately.”
“What?” Sanford exclaimed, his voice laced with disbelief. “Are you serious?”
“It’s true, Ms. Thomas is in the hospital. She had a heart attack!”
Sanford couldn’t ignore this emergency. He immediately booked the earliest flight from Nareigh back to Shaville.
Meanwhile, in Horizonlead Group’s boardroom, Jonathan was in a board meeting, while Irene, following his instructions, first held a press conference.. She flat–out declared. “I don’t even know the person who posted the video.
“These claims are completely fabricated. It’s a deliberate smear campaign against Horizonlead Group and my family.”
As for clarification, Irene never specified how. She just tried to brush it off with vague answers, thinking she could fool the public. But before the video’s takedown, it had already racked up hundreds of thousands of likes, pretending nothing happened was simply impossible.
After Jonathan finished the meeting, Irene hurriedly asked, “How did the board members react? Don’t let this disrupt the company.”
Jonathan’s expression was grim. “Let’s head back to the Lynn residence first and discuss it there.”
Irene wrung her hands, fuming. “That little bastard is up to no good. He deliberately put your name front and center. He’s coming straight for you.”
She added, “If the bad blood between your dad and me ends up ruining your career, I won’t be able to face you.”
Jonathan snapped, “What’s the point of crying? If you’re not coming, I’m heading back to the Lynn residence myself.”
