Chapter 411

Chapter 411

Jennifer replied, No one really bothered to say anything about you.

Cheryl sighed, biting her lip. Ugh, what am I supposed to do? My mom keeps saying she wants to come to Lonisburg to see me. I’ve already dodged her so many times, but I’m funning out of excuses.

Why not just be honest with her?Teresa asked.

Cheryl glanced at Teresa. Easy for you to say. You haven’t told your family about your kid, either, and now you want me to come clean? Are you trying to get me in trouble?

Teresa frowned. It’s not the same. At least I know who the dad is. You don’t even have that.

I’m not saying anything. I just can’t. I’m scared.Cheryl put her hand on her belly.

The light turned red. Teresa stopped the car and tapped the screen to zoom in on the GPS. They were still 3 miles away from the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Lonisburg, and this red light lasted a whole minute.

As the countdown ticked down, Cheryl suddenly cried out, Ah! My stomach hurts! It hurts so much! Am I about to give birth? It’s killing me!

Teresa froze for a second, and Jennifer was momentarily stunned, too.

Jennifer said, Looks like the baby’s coming early.

With only six seconds left before the light turned green, Teresa couldn’t wait any longer. She floored it, ran the red light, and sped up.

Jennifer scolded, Slow down, Teresa!

Teresa said with a frown, I can’t risk two lives here!

Cheryl clutched her belly, cold sweat streaming down her forehead. Her face scrunched up in pain.

Jennifer turned around to comfort her, telling her to take deep breaths and relax, while Teresa kept her eyes glued to the road, not daring to waste a

second.

Hannah, call 911! Tell them we’ve got a woman in labor heading to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital. We’ll be there in three minutes. Have them bring a stretcher to the entrance. I’ll pull up right in front,Teresa instructed.

Okay.Jennifer kept coaxing Cheryl while pulling out her phone to dial 911.

Cheryl’s cries of pain filled the car. Jennifer, am I going todie today?

Shut up, Cheryl! Hang in there. Once you have the baby, I’ll give you a big present,Teresa assured her.

Jennifer shot Teresa a puzzled look. What kind of present is she talking about?she wondered.

However, Teresa didn’t explain. With a screech, she pulled up the Porsche to the hospital entrance. A group of doctors quickly got Cheryl onto a stretcher and rushed her toward the elevators.

The red light above the operating room flicked on. Out in the hallway, Jennifer turned to Teresa and said, Did you just run a red light? Check if you got a ticket and pay the fine before you forget.
