Chapter 367
Chapter 367
The next day, Teresa’s phone wouldn’t stop ringing. It was Donald who had someone contact her.
Today, Donald was planning to propose to Jennifer. The location was the Nareigh Royal Lawn Estate, and the proposal was set to begin at five in the afternoon. He had invited some colleagues and a few close friends and relatives.
Teresa was puzzled. “Aren’t they already getting engaged? Why does he still need to propose?”
The person on the other end explained, “It’s a different thing. Donald is really thoughtful. He even hired a professional camera crew. He’s preparing a grand proposal for Jennifer.”
“Sounds nice, but I’ll pass. You all have fun,” Teresa said.
“Hey–aren’t you Jennifer’s own sister? This is such an important occasion. You and your mom, you’ve agreed to come, right? Remember to arrive early, the caller insisted.
At that moment, Evelyn was at the club, meeting Donald’s mother, Cathy.
Cathy smiled warmly as she shook Evelyn’s hand, her eyes twinkling with delight. “Evelyn, you’re still so charming. You’re so beautiful, and you’ve raised two lovely daughters who are just as pretty.”
Cathy had a gentle face. Evelyn smiled and replied, “My two daughters can be quite willful. They didn’t even tell me about such a big decision as getting married. Otherwise, I would have come back much earlier.”
Evelyn mentioned to Cathy that she was currently handling foreign trade business in Fernlandia and was considering returning to her home country to develop further.
Evelyn had originally planned to come back next year, but with Jennifer’s upcoming marriage, her work plans might have to be moved up.
“Evelyn, you’re truly a strong woman. You’re still so career–minded even in your middle age. I have a lot to learn from you,” Cathy said.
“Alright, let’s not talk about us. Let’s talk about the two kids. What’s really going on? I’m not quite clear on the details,” Evelyn said.
Cathy got straight to the point. “The two of them are colleagues at the same hospital and have been dating for a while.
“Donald has had a crush on Jennifer for a long time. He really likes her and is determined to marry no one but Jennifer. They’ve been living together and
are inseparable, like glue.”
“They plan to get engaged on the fifth of this month. It’s just a few days away. I thought it would be good for our families to meet as soon as possible. What do you think?”
Evelyn suddenly didn’t know what to say. She took out a handkerchief and wiped her hands. She hadn’t expected Jennifer to get married so soon.
“It’s okay. Remember how quickly Teresa and Jonathan got married back in the day? Donald and Jennifer’s pace isn’t that fast. They know each other well, having worked at the same hospital for so long,” Cathy said gently.
“You’re right,” Evelyn replied with an awkward smile, “What a pity. Teresa and Jonathan won’t get back together.”
“Evelyn, Donald and Jennifer’s relationship has nothing to do with Teresa. We can’t mix them up,” Cathy said softly, and Evelyn had no argument to
counter.
“You’re right. Love is a matter of mutual consent. If the two kids are willing, I have no objections,” Evelyn said.
