291.Chapter 291
Donald was at a loss about what to do with Jennifer. Just then, Benny, who’d been watching the drama from inside, finally stepped out.
He said, “Hey, you two, want to come into my office for some coffee? If you’ve got questions about repayments or anything else, I’m a lawyer, happy to help.”
Jennifer felt a bit annoyed. It was Benny again–how embarrassing to have an outsider watching their mess. “No, thanks. Whatever’s going on between me and my boyfriend, we’ll handle it ourselves.”
In the end, Donald and Jennifer didn’t take Benny up on his offer. They managed to make up, more or less, and left together in the same car.
A taxi slowly pulled up in front of Benny’s office. Cheryl got out, looking a little lost, and walked over to Donald’s car, only to find it empty.
Benny called out to her, “Your brother left with Jennifer. He left his car here.”
“I see,” Cheryl replied. Benny politely invited her to get inside for some coffee. Cheryl smiled, “Alright, since you’re being so welcoming, I’ll take you up on it.” Benny was speechless for a moment.
Cheryl rubbed her belly as it let out a few loud rumbles, and then asked, “Can I have some of those cookies on the table?”
Benny chuckled and slid the cookies and all the desserts over to her, and then said to the staff member behind him, “Get our guest a glass of juice.”
“Thank you,” Cheryl said with a polite smile. She hadn’t eaten enough at her last meal and was starving. As she smiled, Benny finally noticed the two little dimples at the corners of her mouth–she was actually pretty cute.
As Benny turned to head to the back, the staff kept sneaking glances at Cheryl. Someone joked, “Benny, looks like you’re about to be a dad.”
Benny was left speechless.
The staff member added, “Just look at her belly. She’s really showing now.”
Benny frowned. He’d always thought Cheryl was putting on weight a bit fast, but now, looking at her belly, he couldn’t help but wonder…
Taking the chance while handing her the juice, Benny walked over and asked, a bit tactfully, “Cheryl, do you have a boyfriend?”
Cheryl shook her head innocently. “No, I don’t have a boyfriend.”

“I see,” Benny muttered. ‘If she doesn’t even have a boyfriend, there’s no way she’s pregnant. The Lynn family does keep things pretty strict, he thought to himself.
Cheryl asked, “What, are you trying to set me up with someone?”
“What kind of guy do you like?” Benny asked, sounding casual.
“I like guys who are sunny, good–looking, treat me well, and have a good temper,” Cheryl replied, a little dreamy.
“That’s a pretty tall order,” Benny teased. “Maybe try losing a little weight first? Summer s almost here. Don’t you want to wear cute dresses?”
Cheryl shot him a glare. “There you go again, always butting in. You’re so annoying.”
