227.Chapter 227
Teresa asked Jonathan what time his flight was, and he sent her the flight details as a response
Teresa sent the message: [I’ll pick you up.)
Jonathan, caught off guard by her sudden offer, sent a rose emoji in response.
Teresa had already arrived at the airport well ahead of his flight.
As she was waiting, her attention was drawn to an arguing couple. The girl turned to leave angrily while the boy quirky wrapped his arms around her from behind, begging her not to go. Then, the girl turned back and hugged har
In the end, the couple held hands, swaying as they walked off into the distance
Teresa snapped out of her thoughts, pulled out her phone, and called Irene.
Teresa said, “I’ve taken care of everything. Your son will be fine. I will leave Nareigh by the end of the month. I worlt bother him anymore, and I hope he won’t bother me either.”
Irene replied, “You can rest assured. As long as I’m here, I won’t let the two of you be together”
Teresa tightened her grip on the phone. “Alright. Then find him a good woman, someone decent, who won’t try to manipulate him.”
With that, Teresa hung up.
She should have realized this sooner. With Irene around, there was no chance of her ever getting back together with Jonathan.
She had been too conflicted lately. She thought, ‘Mom and Jennifer were right. If I want to keep the child a secret, I need to leave as far as possible.’
Teresa solidified her resolve.
The sound of footsteps echoed from a distance. Teresa looked up and saw Jonathan walking toward her, tall and striking in his sharp black suit, exuding an air of confidence and energy.
His deep–set eyes locked onto Teresa, and a faint curve appeared at the corners of his lips. He set down his suitcase and leaned in to give her a brief hug.
Teresa felt the familiar warmth of his embrace, but it no longer brought her comfort. Without hesitation, she pushed him
away.
Jonathan didn’t seem to mind. He gently touched her face. “You look better. That herbal medicine must work. Have you kept taking it?”
“Yes,” Teresa murmured. In truth, it was because of her pseudo–natural makeup look that most men wouldn’t notice.
Jonathan then asked, “Has your period come yet? I didn’t dare stay abroad for long, because I’ve been worried about this the whole time.”
Teresa didn’t respond. Once they were in the car, she pulled a medical report from her bag and handed it to Jonathan.
“I got checked. I’m not pregnant, so you don’t have to worry anymore,” she said.
Jonathan read the words “Teresa, 27 years old. No significant abnormalities detected via ultrasound.”
He stared at the bottom of the page, frowning. “Who’s your attending doctor? The handwriting is a mess.”
“That’s how doctors sign,” Teresa replied flatly.
“Let’s eat something,” Jonathan said, crumpling the report slightly in his hand. The doubt in his eyes lingered, refusing to fade.
Suddenly, Teresa’s phone rang. She answered it casually, pretending it was no big deal. It was Cheryl calling. While chatting with Cheryl, Teresa glanced at Jonathan, seemingly without noticing.
“Cheryl is over at Ceadi Port. She wants to have lunch with me. I’d better go keep her company,” she said lightly.
Jonathan paused for a moment, then reached out his hand. “Give me the phone. I’ll talk to her.”
After Teresa handed over her phone, Jonathan exchanged a few words with Cheryl, agreeing to pick her up and jokingly mentioning that Cheryl should carry the bags.
After the call ended, Jonathan didn’t catch the of

Jonathan’s gaze lingered on Teresa for a moment, and Cheryl asked, “Really, Teresa? You’re on your period?”
“Yeah, Teresa replied calmly.
