Stella fluttered her lashes quickly, trying to brush off the tension in the room, but Beck caught her chin, tilting her face upwards.
“Stella, do you really think I won’t harm you?”
She had crossed his line one too many times.
With a resigned sigh, Stella closed her eyes, presenting a silent dare—if he wanted to, he could go ahead and do it.
Beck frowned deeply, then moved past her as if to leave. He was halfway through putting on his jacket when he heard footsteps behind him. It was Stella, approaching him once more.
She wrapped her arms around him from behind, her voice barely a whisper. “Beck.”
“What are you doing back here? Don’t you know the Moore family is still hunting for you? A year ago, you poisoned two people, and they’re not letting it go.”
Jason’s parents were still stuck on that incident. She had left, so why come back?
“Beck, I missed you.”
Stella clung to him, not wanting to let go.
Beck glanced down at her hands entwined around his waist. He raised a hand, intending to cover hers, but stopped midway.
“Let go.”
“Beck.”
Stella knew what his reaction would be, and it stung. Reluctantly, she released him.
Without a second thought, Beck turned to leave, reaching for the door. Stella chased after him, calling out, “Beck!”
He paused but didn’t look back, quickening his steps.
Stella managed a bitter smile as her phone rang—it was Dave calling.
“You ready yet? I can’t hold them off much longer. The Moore family’s pressure is intense. You have to be out by morning.”
“Dave, I’m good to go. Be there soon.”
Dave sighed in relief on the other end and drove up to pick her.
Stella got into the car and buckled her seatbelt.
Dave glanced around, seeing no sign of Beck. “You crashed his wedding and still expect him to be nice? Stella, you’re pushing your luck.”
Stella leaned back, exhaustion etched on her face, saying nothing.
Tears streamed down Stella’s face as Dave’s voice broke through.
“Stella, you need to let this go. Beck’s like the moon in the sky, not meant for people like us.”
Stella remained silent, her tears flowing freely.
Meanwhile, back at his place, Beck felt restless.
About six months ago, he had a hunch that the person wasn’t really Bess, but he had no proof—just a gut feeling.
Today, when handed that glass of water, the feeling resurfaced.
He secretly swapped the drink, choosing not to partake.
And then he saw Stella—that audacious woman.
Beck was sure he didn’t drink from that glass, yet something inside him stirred.
When Stella looked at him like that, it was easy to get pulled in.
But he wasn’t sure about his feelings for her, so he chose to avoid facing them entirely.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
