By the time Jett emerged from the washroom, Tiffany was already gone. All that was left was the potted plant and a downcast and silent Alejandro.
This side of Alejandro felt like a stranger to Jett. He was usually firm and cold-blooded in the Smith household, but he was reduced to a petty state when faced with Tiffany. It was true, everyone could be vanquished, one way or another. Even the most untameable man would be no different when met with the woman he loved.
Before his arrival, Alejandro was elated when he received Tiffany’s phone call. He would never act like this with anyone else. That’s why the outcome of this meeting caused him such disappointment.
A bolt of lightning flashed across the horizon, followed by the deafening sound of thunder. The people on the streets hurried to avoid the rain. This thunderstorm had arrived all of a sudden.
“Shall we go home, sir?” Jett asked.
Alejandro’s thoughts were pulled back to reality. He got up and said, “Let’s go. Take the plant along.”
When they arrived at Smith Manor, Jett put the plant in the study. Alejandro ignored Melanie, who was waiting for him in the living room, and went straight to the room to take a shower.
Melanie waited for Alejandro to go to the study before summoning Jett. “Alejandro went to see Tiffany, didn’t he? What did they do? Just tell me, I’ve made mental preparation.”
Jett was blunt. “Mrs. Smith, the relationship between Mr. Smith and Tiffany isn’t what you think. You can be jealous of anyone you like, but Tiffany Lane? Not necessary. Because she and Mr. Smith will never happen. Mr. Smith is the one who refuses to let go. Their meeting today was nothing shady. Tiffany contacted Mr. Smith on her own. I guess you call it a farewell. I didn’t have the guts to listen until the end, but based on the looks of it, Tiffany Lane will never see Mr. Smith again. He is in a very bad mood, so please don’t fight with him. He’ll get over it, in time.”
Melanie didn’t believe him. “You’re on Alejandro’s side. Of course, you’d stand up for him and lie to me for him. I shouldn’t have asked you. It’s a useless question anyway.”
