Suddenly, Tiffany flipped up like a carp, as if she had been startled. As a result, the pair stared at each other, cradling their foreheads in pain. Jackson never thought that Tiffany would be so careless in spite of her pregnancy, getting up so roughly like that. His forehead had ended up colliding with hers. He hadn’t even had the chance to avoid her.

Tiffany was close to tears from the pain. “What were you doing? That hurt…”

He was both innocent and helpless. “What do you mean? I just came upstairs to wake you up for dinner. Can’t you get up more gently? I’ve never met a more careless pregnant woman in my life. Come on, get up or the dishes will grow cold.”

Tiffany went into a daze, then returned to her senses. “I dreamt that we broke up again, then I heard you calling me for dinner and remembered that we’re married, and we’ll never be apart again. But I was in a daze, so I didn’t know what was a dream and what was reality. I wanted to find out which was real as soon as possible. I didn’t know that you’d be so close to me, which is why I bumped into you. And you’re teasing me for having a slow brain.”

Jackson curled his lips, reached out to stroke her head.

“It’s real,” he assured her, “We’ll never be apart again. From now on, try to avoid these kinds of bad dreams. Regardless of how silly you are, you have me to protect you. No one else but me would dare say anything against you.”

Tiffany grasped his well-defined hands, then lifted her own hands too. She gazed at their wedding rings and felt as if something had filled her heart.

There was no space for sadness anymore.

“It still feels like a dream. We’re actually married… It looks easy, but it’s not. By the way, most people enjoy exciting wedding nights. Why is ours so quiet?”

He grabbed her hand and helped her off of the bed, explaining, “My mom only kept the wedding ceremony. She was worried that it might tire you out. Isn’t it better to have this peace and quiet? You could do whatever you want if you weren’t pregnant. Based on our current situation, it’s better to keep it clean. Let’s eat.”

Jackson’s hand stopped in the middle of picking up more dishes. The temperature of the atmosphere seemed to plummet too.

“Of course I wouldn’t be happy if you went to see him. Don’t even think about it. It’s true that he’s in this predicament because he saved you, but it’s also very suspicious. You’d better get that idea out of your head. Don’t think that I’d fall for it, just because you’re taking a step back, and give you permission to see him.”

She knew that this would happen, so she didn’t dare bring it up. She simply felt sorry about the whole situation. Alejandro had already been reduced to this state, yet he still sent her a present on her wedding day.

Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door. She got up and ran to open it in order to avoid the tension in the room. Outside the door stood Summer and Atticus, the former looking rather normal while the latter seemed a bit awkward.
