When I returned home in the afternoon, unease consumed me until evening. 

I wanted to see if he would be honest with

I hoped he would come back with an explanation. 

Alpha Dorian Kingston didn’t return until near dawn. 

“Darling, I worked late at the office last night. Did you have breakfast? Let me join you,” he said as soon as he walked in, wrapping his arms around me and affectionately nuzzling my hair.

But disappointingly, throughout breakfast, he didn’t mention a single word about Liora’s

After we finished eating, he went to take a shower, meticulously shaving and spritzing cologne.

He had never cared about such things before. 

I stared at him, lost in thought, my mind a whirlwind. 

Perhaps my gaze was too intense, causing him to feel uneasy; he awkwardly laughed and raised his hands, saying, “Oh, I need to meet an important client soon. He really cares about appearance.” 

“Important client?” I scoffed inwardly, suspecting it was an old flame. 

I was deeply disheartened.

The car drove toward the airport, and with each passing moment, my heart sank further.

Anxiety, unease, anger… a storm of emotions gnawed at my heart like ants. 

Suddenly, I saw him stop in his tracks, a look of surprise lighting up his face as he waved excitedly. 

Following his gaze, I saw a woman approaching him slowly.

I held my breath, trying to evade the crowd, and stealthily moved closer to them. 

Alpha Dorian Kingston hurried to the 

woman, trembling hands gently cradling her tear–streaked face. 

“My mate, it’s you! I’ve come back!” Liora Granger’s voice was soft and filled with emotion, and she immediately embraced Dorian Kingston tightly. 

In that moment, my world collapsed. It was really Liora Granger–she had truly returned. 

If there had been any sliver of hope left in my heart before, now, all of it shattered. 

My legs grew weak, and my body uncontrollably slid downward.

I stumbled to the corner nearby, crouched down, and tears fell in a steady stream, like pearls slipping off a broken string. 

No! No! This can’t be real! I screamed desperately in my mind, praying to the Moon. Goddess to wake me from this nightmare. 

But my wolf, Phoenix, kept howling in my mind, reminding me that this was real–it wasn’t a dream. 

I watched them, locked in each other’s arms, and couldn’t bear it anymore. I turned and, stumbling, ran out of the airport.

I sat in the taxi, my heart heavy, watching the scenery rush by, feeling as if the entire world was enveloped in gray. 

“Celine Vaughn, you can’t settle for the past anymore. You need to confront Alpha Dorian Kingston and find out why he betrayed us” my wolf, Phoenix, growled in my mind, the anger and questioning gnawing at me, but I paid it little mind. 

I rested my forehead against the window, letting the tears flow freely. 

“Oh, Celine Vaughn, don’t cry. You need to be strong because the little Puppy inside you needs you. Please, stop crying; I will always be by your side,” my wolf, Phoenix, said in distress.
