Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 473

Ines glanced at the clock, and quickly texted Aaron, urging him to make his exit before the rest of the household grew suspicious.

Seeing Ashley sound asleep, a relieved smile crossed Aaron’s face as he quietly left the bedroom.

Ines was waiting at the door, a playful smile in her eyes. “Aaron, Ashley should be fine now, right?”

Aaron seemed a little uncomfortable, especially facing a woman he once pursued. “Izzy, don’t tease me. Ashley’s asleep. I heard you visited Ethan this morning. How is he?”

“Ethan’s ok, just a little disheveled. I don’t think anyone’s messed with him.” However, Ethan loved to be neat. It was probably a tough pill for him to swallow.

“Alright, we should head downstairs before Phillip comes looking for us,” Aaron said, somewhat nervously.

Ines nodded. They headed downstairs together. The two babies were probably tuckered out from playing. They were now sitting quietly on the couch sipping milk. Their little legs were swinging back and forth, and their pursed tiny mouths were making them look so cute.

Ines sat between them, wrapping an arm around each one. The babies were well-behaved at this moment, occasionally looking up at her while drinking.

Camela was originally watching the kids, but when she saw Ines and Aaron come down, she went to help in the kitchen.

Aaron looked at the babies, full of envy. Ines chuckled, glanced around, and then asked quietly, “Aaron, how are things between you and Ashley? Are you sure about her?”

Aaron blinked, remaining silent.

Sensing the hesitation on Aaron’s face, Ines grew anxious. “Aaron, please don’t tell me you’re still undecided.”

Aaron shook his head. “Actually, I’ve made up my mind. It’s just that Ashley is so young and there’s a big age gap between us. I’m afraid she just likes me now. If I hold her back, what happens if she meets someone she likes more in the future?”

“Aaron, you don’t need to worry. Ashley can be like the wind sometimes, unpredictable, but she’s stuck around for so many years. You should stop doubting her feelings.”

“I’m not doubting, just worried that she might change over time.”

Ines laughed. “Aaron, you almost got me there. Your skill at changing the subject has improved, but I see what you’re thinking. Don’t worry. Ethan and I will be here.”

Aaron raised an eyebrow. “You are sure Ethan would be willing to help?” He knew his friend well. Non-interference was already a big concession. There was no way he’d actively help. He’d probably enjoy the spectacle.

“Don’t worry. I have ways to handle him. I can use my charms.”

Aaron chuckled, looking at Ines intently. “Izzy, you’ve become much more outgoing since you regained your memories.”

“That’s just how I am.” The changes in her life, coupled with the insecurity caused by memory loss, had gradually altered her personality.

Aaron nodded. Right now, all of Ines’ issues with her parents were resolved. She was happily married and had two adorable kids. It was easy to see her reverting back to her old self.

“Honey, please come home soon. Our babies can call you ‘dada’ now.” Ines muttered to herself, perfectly imagining Ethan’s reaction to hear the kids call him ‘dada’. He’d probably be stunned. Then a gentle smile would slowly spread across his face, lighting up his handsome features.

Lost in thought, Ines couldn’t help but laugh. But the moment she thought about when she’d see him again, her face darkened.

Her mind was a whirl when a knock was heard at the door. Ashley’s voice faintly came through, “Ines, it’s Ashley. Could you open the door?”

Ines got up to open the door. Ashley stood there. Her hair was disheveled. She was clutching a pillow, looking pitifully at her. “Ines, I can’t sleep, so I come to chat with you.”

“Come in. I can’t sleep either. Let’s chat.”

Ashley grinned, crawling into Ines’ bed. “It’s all Aaron’s fault. I fell asleep when he came. Now I’ve slept too much, so I can’t fall asleep again. I’m so uncomfortable.”

“Enough, don’t act like you’re hard done by. Aaron risked a lot to come see you. If I were not at home today, what might happen?”

Ashley looped her arm through Ines’, saying, “Ines, I just realized today that our dear Aaron is quite the innocent one.”

Ines was momentarily caught off guard by Ashley’s statement. “What do you mean, ‘quite the innocent one’?”

“Oh come on, Ines, you’ve been married to my brother for so long now, and you have two babies. You still can’t understand what I’m saying? I mean, it seems like Aaron hasn’t been with a woman before.” As Ashley said this, her face turned a deep shade of red.
