Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 443

Ines hadn’t been behind the wheel for quite a few years and started off with her hands and feet feeling somewhat stiff, even slightly trembling. She held the steering wheel with a degree of uncertainty.

Ethan gently squeezed her hand, soothing her with a warm voice, “Izzy, don’t be scared. I’m right here beside you. Nothing is going to happen.”

Ines nodded firmly, feeling an inexplicable strength surge through her, because she had the man she trusted and loved deeply by her side.

“Okay, I got it.” Ines took a deep breath, trying her best to shake off the horrific images of car accidents in her mind. She concentrated all her attention on driving. After all, she was proficient in it in the past. Initially, the car moved at a snail’s pace, but before long, Ines got the hang of it. Her body loosened up, and she relaxed completely.

When he saw her like this, he went from apprehensive to calm. He found himself even more nervous watching her drive than when he himself was driving. His palms were drenched in cold sweat.

“Good job. Keep it up like this. Don’t overthink it. Just treat it like any other normal activity,” he encouraged.

“I know. I think I’m doing better than when I started,” Ines replied. Her lips were curling up slightly.

After driving for a while, Ines felt more confident and thought she was driving too slowly. She was about to speed up, but Ethan stopped her promptly. His voice was slightly stern, “Izzy, no speeding. Not now, not ever.”

Ines, who was visibly excited, seemed a bit deflated at this. “Oh, okay, I got it.”

Ethan affectionately pinched her cheek. “Good girl.”

“In what universe am I not a good girl? I’ve been following your instructions. Unlike you, who always seems to brush off my advice,” Ines pouted, giving a soft snort.

Ethan rubbed his nose, aware that she was referring to his eating habits, and responded sheepishly, “Well, it was only once or twice, right?”

“I don’t want to dredge up the past. Just remember, if you do it again, I won’t let you off easy.” As they smoothly arrived at the Meyer Mansion, Ines drove the car straight into the garage. As soon as she got out of the car, she couldn’t help but hold Ethan’s arm, jubilantly saying, “Honey, it seems like I’ve finally overcome my trauma from the car accident.” She had been tormented by this for many years and hadn’t expected to overcome it so easily with Ethan’s support.

“Congratulations.”

“Thanks, darling.”

Ethan chuckled, “Izzy, you know I could be your personal chauffeur for life. You don’t have to drive.”

“Your tongue’s been dipped in honey recently, huh? But driving is now a basic life skill. I should learn to do it, instead of relying on you all the time.”

Just as Ethan was about to say something, they heard the sounds of their two little ones crying from the living room. They seemed heartbroken. A tight knot formed in Ines’ heart. She hadn’t seen them for almost twenty-four hours since last night. She immediately let go of Ethan’s arm and rushed into the house.

“Izzy, be careful,” Ethan warned, quickening his own pace. He picked up one of their little babies, while Ines picked up the other. Ivy, recognizing her mother’s scent, clung to Ines’ clothes and nuzzled against her chest. Erica chuckled, “Izzy, Ivy probably wants to breastfeed. Two months has past, but she still hasn’t forgotten about it. She’s pretty persistent.”

Ethan was also extremely concerned. After setting Ollie on the bed, he spent a good deal of time comforting Ivy until she finally stopped crying.

Ines prepared some formula and handed it to Ethan. Ivy, realizing that she wouldn’t be getting any breast milk, reluctantly started drinking the formula. Ethan chuckled, turning to Ines, “This little girl has become quite naughty lately. She was probably upset that she couldn’t get any breast milk and took it out on you.”

Ines touched Ivy’s chubby cheeks. Remembering the pain from earlier, she asked, “Ethan, do you think Ivy’s getting new teeth?”

“Probably. I’ll have a check later.”

Ivy finally settled down after she had enough to eat. Ethan tickled her to open her little mouth, and sure enough, a pair of small milk teeth had sprouted on the little girl's lower jaw. It wasn't very noticeable, but if you looked closely, you could see them.

"It is said that babies can be a bit irritable and tend to cry when they start teething. It seems to be true, this little girl has been quite restless recently, and she likes to bite things."

Ines nodded, "Ethan, have you noticed that Ivy's gums seem a bit red?"

"Don't worry, I'll ask Camela later to see if there's anything we can do about it."

After checking on Ivy, Ethan also looked over Ollie. The little fella had got two tiny milk teeth. Ethan followed Camela’s advice, washing his hands clean before gently massaging the teeth. At first, the baby was a bit resistant, but he seemed to relax as he got used to the sensation. Ines followed the same routine with Ivy, massaging her infant gums. The little miss wriggled around for a bit before settling down. Her eyes were half-closed in comfort. Watching her, Ines couldn’t help but chuckle.
