Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 432

As the light slowly seeped in from outside, Ines instinctively raised her hand to shield her eyes. Then she gradually lowered her hand as her eyes adjusted.

“Izzy, are you okay?”

“I’m fine, Ethan, you can open them all. I feel alright.”

Ethan drew back the curtains completely, then turned and walked toward Ines. She studied his face closely, and then noticed that he seemed to have lost some weight, because his features were sharper than ever. Yet his inherent charm remained undiminished. His face was still the one that made her heart flutter.

“Ethan, how did you allow yourself to become like this?”

Ethan shrugged it off with a smile, embracing her gently and nuzzling her cheek with his chin, “I’ve already married the woman of my dreams, so there’s nothing to fear.”

Ines turned her head, gently caressing his gaunt face. Suddenly, the tears were welling up in her eyes, “Haven’t you been taking proper rest lately?”

Ethan caught her hand and kissed it. He wiped her tears, “Izzy, don’t cry. It’s bad for your eyes. I’ve been resting well. Otherwise, how could I have the energy to take care of you?”

Ines sniffled, suppressing the sour feeling in her heart, “How long was I unconscious?”

“Exactly forty-five days.”

“That long, huh?” She had only felt like she was in a long dream, but she never imagined it had been over a month. No wonder Ethan looked so worn out. “Were you at the hospital all this time?”

Ethan nodded, “My mom stepped in to manage the company, and Lucas would bring some papers here for me to handle. I juggled work while staying by your side.”

Looking around, Ines didn’t see their two little ones. She couldn’t help but ask, “Where are Ivy and Ollie?”

Ethan blinked in surprise, “How do you know they were here?”

“Who else would pull my hair? Plus, look at all their toys over there. We picked most of them out together.” Ines chuckled. By her count, they should be about six months old now, and it was a notoriously mischievous age for children.

Ethan’s face darkened slightly, “Probably Ivy. That little girl’s picked up some bad habits. She loves pulling your hair. No matter how many times I stop her, she just doesn’t listen. She’s completely lawless.”

“They’re just babies. They naturally won’t understand much. Go bring them here. I’ve missed them so much.”

Ethan frowned, “Let’s talk for a bit longer before I bring them in.”

“But I want to see them first. It’s been so long since I held them.” Ines nudged Ethan. Her voice was softening.

“You haven’t held me for a long time either.” Ethan’s voice was muffled, and the jealousy in his tone was unmistakable.

Ines laughed, “We have all the time in the world. Why do you feel jealous of our children? It’s not appropriate to leave them outside all the time. They’ve had a tough time by staying with me in the hospital these days.”

“Moria, you can also call me Izzy like Camela. We’re not that formal at home.”

Camela patted Moria’s shoulder, “Your reaction is just like mine when I first started. When you spend more time here, you’ll see. This family is nothing like the others we’ve worked for. Just call her Izzy.”

Moria nodded, slightly taken aback.

The two little ones, accustomed to their nap at this time, soon fell asleep in their mother’s familiar embrace. Camela and Moria took them to their small bedroom.

Phoebe, unable to contain herself any longer, rushed over and hugged Ines tightly. Her tears were streaming down her face, “Izzy, you’re so lucky to have survived.” These past weeks had been torturous for everyone. Thankfully, they finally past it.

“I told you I have a knack for surviving.” Ines’ lips curled into a small smile. She remembered the car accident a few years ago when Phoebe had held her and cried. Back then, she had lost all her memories and couldn’t recognize the person holding her and crying so heartbrokenly. But seeing Phoebe so upset, she couldn’t bear to push her away and could only comfort her.

“Don’t ever say that again. It’s bad luck.”

“Alright, I won’t. Thank you for never giving up on me.”

With a slight pause, Phoebe lifted her gaze to meet Ines’, “Izzy, have your memories returned?”

“Yes, they have. I remember everything from the past, including that time you forcefully kissed someone while playing a game...” Before the name ‘Noel’ even escaped her lips, Ines found her mouth quickly covered by Phoebe. Phoebe gritted her teeth, fixing a fierce glare at Ines, “Izzy, you’re still recovering, but it doesn’t mean that I’ll let you off easy. It’s not cool to start revealing people’s secrets as soon as you remember them. I know plenty of embarrassing stories about you too. Don’t test me, or I’ll spill them all right now.”
