Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 375

"Rita, you and Zander need to watch out for your own safety. We're gonna be hanging around the hospital for a few days, so don't rush yourselves."

"Got it, got it. Now that Izzy's already having contractions, I'll stop bugging you guys. You go ahead and calm her down. She might seem like a tough cookie, but she's not as brave as she looks. You need to comfort her, and make sure she's not too stressed out," Rita said.

"I will."

Rita quickly went over a few things again, then hung up the call.

Ethan typed up a text with the hospital's address and room number, and sent it off to Rita. Then he made a call to his family, dialing Erica . The call connected quickly, and just like Rita, Erica's first question was whether Ines had given birth yet.

"Mom, Izzy hasn't given birth yet, and it might not be until tomorrow morning. You guys don't need to rush over, the babies are not here yet and it's not like you can do anything about it. Camela is here and that's enough."

Erica was pretty worked up at the moment, "I have to go over there."

Ethan knew she would react like this, as she'd been looking forward to her grandchildren for a while now, "Mom, come over in the morning and bring some stuff for Izzy to replenish her energy. If you guys all come over, there won't be anyone to prepare these things."

Hearing this, Erica finally calmed down a bit. Ethan added, "Don't spread the word just yet. Let's tell grandpa tomorrow. He just recovered from his illness."

"I know, even if you hadn't said anything, I would have known what to do."

Ines was currently in pain. Ethan only called those closest to them, and he had not told any of their friends yet. He planned to do so after the baby was born.

The pain came in waves for Ines, her face scrunched up due to the pain, her teeth biting down hard on her lip. It looked like she was about to bite through it.

Her long hair was soaked with sweat, and Ethan could only imagine how much pain she was in. It pained him to see her in such distress. He couldn't bear to see her suffer like this. So he climbed onto the bed, holding Ines tightly from behind, even offering his arm up to her lips, telling her to bite down on it if the pain became too much.

Ines was having none of it, and she just clung onto him tighter, only digging her nails into him whenever the pain became unbearable.

"Should've just gone for a C-section if natural childbirth was this painful," Ethan regretted seeing Ines in such a state. He knew childbirth was painful, but he didn't expect it to be this excruciating, to last for more than ten hours.

"Actually, a C-section might seem less painful because of the anesthetics, but it does involve cutting into the abdomen. The recovery period can be quite painful too."

After the pain subsided a bit, Ines could sense his nervousness, so she explained "I heard that a C-section is less painful because of the anesthetics, but it does involve cutting open the abdomen. Then there's the recovery period where I'll be bedridden for days. Natural childbirth might be painful initially, but once the babies were born, I'll be much better. I can be discharged in a week, a short period of pain is better than a long one. Plus, natural childbirth is better for the baby. We should consider the babies' needs. I can handle some pain."

Ines was initially nervous, but the waves of pain had somehow made the nervousness disappear.

In the end, he couldn't help but get up to find the doctor. The doctor checked on Ines and said it wasn't time yet. They had to wait a while longer.

"Doctor, my wife is in so much pain. Does every expectant mother have to endure this? Can't the hospital do something to alleviate the pain?"

The doctor shook his head, "Mr. Meyer, I understand how you feel, but this really is a matter of endurance. Painkillers might affect the baby, so there's nothing we can do."

The doctor left after saying this. Ethan clenched his fist tightly. Camela didn't know how to comfort him. She simply said, "Ethan, I have some chocolate here, you can give some to Izzy to regain some energy. It'll be dawn soon. I'll go out and get some more stuff."

Camela had barely stepped out of the ward when Phillip, Erica, and Trenton rushed over.

"Has Izzy given birth?" Phillip asked anxiously.

Camela shook her head, "Not yet, she'll probably need another hour or two before she can go into the delivery room. I was planning to get some more food for Izzy to replenish her energy."

"Camela,I've got the grub. You can lead us straight to the ward."

Camela chuckled a bit when she saw what Erica had in her hands, then she led everyone to the ward.
