Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 736

Margaret was on the verge of speaking when Frederick beat her to it. "I got a call from Penny yesterday. Care to explain what that's about?"

Margaret paused, swallowing the words that had almost escaped her lips.

Well, discussing Penny first wasn't a problem. After all, these events had unfolded around the same time.

"My mom didn't die. After falling off the cliff, Violet saved her."

"Your mom?"

Margaret blinked, surprised by his reaction. It seemed Penny had kept the news under wraps quite well.

"Yes, my mom. She overheard some secrets from Yuna Lockwood and Zoe, and found out I'm her daughter. Yuna drove her off the cliff. Does that make sense to you?"

"She was saved by Violet?"

"Yes." Margaret nodded. "After Violet saved her, she started working at Poppy Petal Fragrances. She and my mom set a trap for Yuna. Yuna's hallucinations were actually caused by Penny's hypnotism. That explains why Penny would always whisper in my ear after Yuna had an episode. She probably wanted me to go to the police."

Frederick's expression shifted as he firmly said, "Stay away from her from now on."

"Stay away from who? Violet?"

Frederick nodded. "Yes."

Margaret was utterly confused. "Why? That's like cutting off your nose to spite your face."

"Violet, on the surface, seems unassuming, but she's full of schemes. I don't like that."

"I know you dislike manipulative people, but Violet helped me and my mom. Having a bit of cunning isn't entirely bad. It can save oneself or others when necessary, right?"

Margaret hadn't even gotten to the main point yet.

"Perfect timing. Let's go have breakfast. There's some early prep for the party that might need your help, Frederick. There are a few special guests I'd like to invite but need someone to introduce us."

Frederick, leading Margaret out, replied, "My pleasure. Shall we discuss it over breakfast?"

"Sounds good!"

And with that, Margaret was whisked away to the dining room, facing Sandra and the guests, once again at a loss for words.

After all, this was a matter between her and Frederick. Explaining the misunderstandings and entanglements of the past would take time, and it certainly wasn't something to share with others.

Feeling frustrated, Margaret realized that sometimes, patience was necessary. She'd be with Frederick these next few days; there would be another chance to speak.
