Seeing how things were online, Layla was overjoyed. She picked up an apple and bit into it. 

“Aunt Sarah, Uncle Dan, you must prepare the evidence. Once I get the Collins Group, you must immediately announce that Caroline isn’t your daughter.” 

Sarah and Dan couldn’t believe that Layla had actually gotten Eddy to come forward and announce his support of her. That meant that the Collins Group was definitely going to be Layla’s. 

Could it be that no one in this world was more influential than Eddy Morrison? 

“Don’t worry.” Dan smiled. “Layla, once you successfully acquire the Collins Group, I will announce 

that Caroline isn’t my daughter. When the time comes, we’ll be celebrating two happy events. 

Won’t that be nice?” 

“Good. I’m relieved.” 

Right then, Layla was not the slightest bit worried about purchasing the Collins Group. What 

worried her more was Dan going back on his word. She would be assured the position of Eddy’s 

wife if Dan stuck to the agreement. 

Meanwhile, Caroline didn’t know the world was getting into a huge argument because of her and 

Layla. She was ready to head to the bank in a few days to hand over the paperwork. With that, she 

would officially request to acquire the Collins Group. 

The key to whether or not she could obtain the Collins Group lay in crossing this barrier posed by the bank. Once the bank agreed to loan her the money, she would have the capital to acquire the 

Collins Group. That was why she needed a sponsor. 

“Caroline.” Cheryl knocked, then opened the door. Awkwardly, she said, “Mr. Eddy is here.” 

Caroline asked, “Why is he here?” 

“I don’t know. He says he wants to see you. 

After giving it some thought, Caroline cleared her files off the desk and put them aside. “Have him. 

come in.”

Not long after Cheryl left, Eddy strode in. He was wearing a black suit and carried a briefcase in

“Are you here to see me for something?” Caroline really didn’t understand why Eddy kept visiting 

her every couple of days. 

Eddy sat across from her and said, “My plan to … support Layla in acquiring the Collins Group. Do 

you know about it?” 

Caroline looked at him strangely. “This is your own affair. What does it matter if I know about it?” 

Eddy replied, “Don’t you have anything to say about it?” 

Caroline frowned at that. “Eddy, what are you trying to do?” 

Without saying anything, Eddy looked at Caroline’s desk. His sharp gaze caught sight of the 

request documents. 

“You’ve already prepared the request documents?” 

“That’s right.” Caroline followed Eddy’s gaze and landed on the same documents. “What is it? Is 

there a problem?” 

Eddy’s eyebrows furrowed tightly. “You’ve found someone to endorse you?” 

“Of course.” The way Caroline looked at Eddy told him it was a matter of course. She didn’t 

understand why he seemed so astonished. 

Eddy lost his balance and nearly fell into a seat on the chair. He had only announced to the media and Layla that he would endorse Layla because he hoped Caroline would feel a sense of danger. That way, Caroline would come to him for help of her own accord. 

Now, it seemed things weren’t going the way he expected them to. Eddy wasn’t willing to believe it. Acquiring the Collins Group was a huge step to make. How could Caroline possibly do it without 

him? 

Without him, there was no way Caroline would be able to acquire the Collins Group at all.
