When Caroline saw Kirk, it was as if she saw a ray of hope. 

“Kirk! Help me save Grandpa! He got shot …” 

When Jude saw Kirk, his pupils shrank, and he raised a trembling hand. He wanted to say something, but he couldn’t.

Howard quickly raised his head and immediately recognized Charles. “A–Aren’t you Mr. Kirk’s secretary? Why are you also here?” 

Seeing how pitiful Howard was and how that he had no hope of surviving, Charles mercifully decided to him the truth. 

“This is sir’s home, and he rushed back here because something happened. Do you get it now?” 

Howard’s eyes became as wide as saucers. He felt as if lightning had struck him and felt his soul 

leaving his body. 

Charles simply gave him a glance. He didn’t want to talk to Howard anymore. 

Just as he was about to walk toward the door, Howard hugged his thigh. 

He questioned, “Make things clear to me! Whose home is this?” 

No matter what, he didn’t want to believe the fact that Caroline was married to Kirk. 

Charles glanced at him sympathetically. “It’s Mr. Kirk’s and Madam Caroline’s home. Do you get it 

now?” 

After getting a definite answer, Howard felt his strength draining away. And he slumped to the

Charles turned to Jack, who was behind him. “He’s all yours, Jack.”
