Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Hearing Mason’s declaration, the crowil gasped in shock, their faces paling with disbelief.
After all, in their eyes, I had always been the clingy, morally questionable parasite desperately latching onto Maso Huntington
“Mr. Huntington, stop joking,” I remarked with a bitter sinile. “Miss Lockwood is the one who married you, she is your fiancée. How can you say such things to her face?”
Ivy’s expression had deteriorated to an unprecedented level of ugliness.
Strangely, I felt a surge of satisfaction.
Previously, I’d always been the one watching helplessly as Ivy flaunted herself before me. Now, finally, she was tasting her own medicine.
Mason’s face darkened considerably before he suddenly laughed. “Ava, where would you go without me? You’re already in your thirties–what company would hire you? Or perhaps you’ve found another man…”
Glancing at the office clock, I realized it was already eleven. If this continued, I’d miss my flight.
“Mr. Huntington,” I delivered my ultimatum, “I wanted us to part amicably, but if you forcibly prevent my resignation, I’ll have no choice but to contact a lawyer for labor arbitration.”
Mason’s face immediately transformed into an expression of utter disbelief. He never imagined I would be so determined to
leave.
Just then, an authoritative, stern voice came from behind us: “Who’s talking about labor arbitration?”
Mason turned around and visibly trembled, resembling a cat confronting a tiger. Instinctively, he addressed the newcomer with utmost respect: “Father, what brings you here?”
Upon hearing Mason’s form of address, Mr. Huntington’s brow furrowed with displeasure. “Do I need to remind you how to address me in the office?”
Mason pressed his lips together and immediately complied like a submissive quail: “Chairman Huntington.”
Meanwhile, Ivy’s lips curved upward as she grabbed Mr. Huntington’s arm playfully. “Dad, what brings you to the office?”
Mr. Huntington’s expression softened as he responded with a smile, “When I called earlier, Mason seemed off. I thought something might have happened with your VP appointment, so naturally I came to check.”
Immediately seizing the opportunity, Iyy beamed, “Dad! You’re always so good to me!”
I recognized Ivy’s deliberate display of closeness with Mr. Huntington for what it was–a power play to remind me that she was Mason’s wife and the true lady of the company.
While everyone around us seemed to forget my existence, showering compliments on Mr. Huntington instead-“Seeing is believing! Chairman Huntington is truly decisive and efficient, setting standards we can barely aspire to!”

I merely smirked sarcastically and continued gathering my belongings to leave.
“Young lady, wait,” Mr. Huntington suddenly called out to me.
With his commanding presence and piercing gaze, he coldly stated, “Leaving without a month’s notice means even with labor arbitration, you won’t get favorable results-”
I interrupted him with a bitter laugh. “Chairman, you misunderstand. I’m not trying to extort anything from you. I just want to leave quickly and don’t want anything.”
Mr. Huntington paused briefly, turning to look at Mason, who kept his head down guiltily. Seemingly struck by a thought, Mr. Huntington’s lips curved into a smile that appeared remarkably open–minded.
