Aiden swiftly pulled Hazel into his arms, shielding her from the spray.
The once beautiful, dreamlike confession scene instantly became a soggy mess–flower petals scattered everywhere, and gift boxes became waterlogged, their contents dripping.
Their carefully planned gesture ended in chaos.
Julian’s hair dripped water down his face, his dignified appearance now thoroughly humiliated.
His pale lips trembled slightly as he spoke, his voice barely audible:
“Hazel, I’m sorry… We were wrong before, but can you give me another chance? I’ve loved you for so many years. Look, all these things are proof of my feelings. Don’t be so cruel, please.”
As he spoke, he dropped to one knee, producing the familiar family heirloom box.
“These jade bracelets can only be yours. If you refuse them, I’d rather smash them to pieces!”
The elegant green bracelets exuded wealth and refinement, but Hazel remained completely unmoved.
Beside him, Maverick quickly added:
“Hazel, I’m not asking you to choose between us anymore. Just leave Aiden, and we’ll both love you. You won’t have to struggle with the decision–we can both be yours!”
Maverick’s dark eyes burned with unquenchable determination. He then produced the family heirloom jade necklace.
The crowd whispered among themselves, but Hazel wasn’t swayed in the slightest.
Instead, she found their words utterly absurd.
“Have you both lost your minds? Any feelings I had for you were extinguished by your own actions. Forgiveness is impossible, let alone a relationship. It’s never going to happen–accept it!”
“Those heirlooms are yours. Throw them away if you want–it doesn’t concern me. I don’t need them.”
With that, she delivered a resounding slap to each of their faces.
Maverick’s face turned ashen. Already weakened from his injuries, this final blow was too much, and he collapsed toward
Hazel.
However, she stepped back without hesitation, allowing him to fall to the ground.
Her cold action pierced Maverick’s heart.
Even Julian momentarily froze in shock.
Then Hazel delivered her final words to them:
non Imarado!
Chapter 25
“Julian, Maverick, stop looking for me. I’ve moved on completely. To me, you’re just people I once knew.”
“I may end up with someone else, marry, have children, but that person will never be either of you.”
Having said this, she turned and walked away without hesitation.
Even when she accidentally stepped on a friendship bracelet they had made together years ago, she showed no remorse.
