Ditched My Toxic Duo for a Billionaire Upgrade novel Chapter 18

Rose began to panic in earnest.

How could this happen?

She rushed to another machine, desperately reassuring herself: It must be a machine malfunction. If can’t happen this quickly!

After trying countless machines with the same result, her dental crumbled.

Impossible! No way!

Rose frantically slapped her bank cards on the teller’s counter, shouting:

Give me my cash! Everything in the accounts!

The teller checked repeatedly, then frowned apologetically:

I’m sorry, but both of these cards have been frozen. No withdrawals are possible.

At these words, Rose collapsed to the floor like a deflated balloon.

It’s over. Everything’s gone.

She carelessly dropped the cards, nearly broken with despair.

She staggered away, not even aware of where she was going.

As she walked, a mischievous child holding a sparkler ran by, laughing with his friends. Not watching where he was going, the boy accidentally bumped into Rose’s leg.

Get lost! Don’t touch me!she screamed, kicking the child away.

The boy began wailing loudly.

Seeing the sparkler in his hand, his eyes hardened with anger. Then he lit it and threw it at Rose’s back.

With a bang, the sparkler exploded. Rose’s clothes caught fire, and a patch of her hair was singed off.

Help! Somebody help me!she screamed/rolling on the ground in pain.

But unfortunately, the area had no security cameras and few passersby.

The children who had been playing had vanished.

In a hidden corner, a small red light blinked, and a blacksuited security guard reported quietly:

Mr. Montgomery, mission accomplished. We’ll ensure Rose suffers.

Mr. Montgomery stood by a floortoceiling window overlooking the river, responding with a soft Mm.

Even without looking, the searing pain across her back caused cold sweat to pour down her face.

Rose turned ashen, only managing a few steps before collapsing face first onto the ground. Her once pretty face was scraped- raw, and her nose appeared to have a hairline fracture.

After being taken to the hospital by a Good Samaritan, Rose regained consciousness to find her entire body in excruciating pain.

The nurse, seeing her awake, immediately pressed her to find someone to pay the bill.

Ms. Shaw, we couldn’t reach any of your emergency contacts. The surgery fees and hospitalization costs need to be paid promptly, or we can’t proceed with further operations or continue your treatment.

Rose, tears streaming down her face from pain, called Julian and Maverick repeatedly. She begged them to help her one more time.
