Emily’s POV

Two days after we visited the ancestral house of Kelly’s family, I felt someone following me while I’m walking along the empty parking lot of the condominium tower. I just visited my father in the hospital. He got a stroke last year and he’s still not recovering. I don’t know if I should be happy because the person who ruined my life is finally suffering or felt bad because he’s still my father.

Before I could even enter the elevator, someone dragged me by the wrist and slammed me against the wall beside the elevator.

I met a pair of eyes burning in anger. He was looking at me while gripping my shoulders as if he wanted to crash me right then.

“What do you know about Kelly’s plans?”

I stared blankly at him before I let out a soft chuckle. His forehead creased and he clenched his jaws.

“You seemed to have two personalities, huh?”

He gritted his teeth. “Just tell me what you know! What is she planning and what kind of information does she have?”

I licked my bottom lip and pushed him. He took a step backwards and glared at me dangerously as I crossed my arms. “You offered help two days ago, Matt Foster. Why are you harassing me now?”

He shook his head. “You better tell me everything you know!”

I smirked and slowly walked towards him. He gently grabbed the collar of his dress shirt and pulled him down a little. I saw how his lips parted and his eyes remained darkly staring.

“Why don’t you try to ask nicely?”

“I’m not here to negotiate with you!”

I let go of his collar and turned my back. “Then we have nothing to talk about—”

“Wait!” He grabbed my wrist again as I heard him cursed under his breath. “What do you want?”

I chuckled. “That’s what she believed. Now, can you help me?”

His jaws clenched again and he slowly nodded. “What do you want me to do?”

“Investigate,” I answered simply. His forehead creased.

“Investigate?”

I tilted my head. “Yes! Prove to her that she’s following the wrong information and chasing the wrong people.”

He stared into my eyes with a blank expression on his face. “You want me to investigate my own family?”

I chuckled. “Come on, Matt Foster! I know you wanna know the truth more than anyone. So...”

“Why are you doing this? Why do you want to hurt her? Why are you trying to hurt her?”

I stared at him. “You seemed to grow fond of your cousin, huh? Tell me. Can you really help me or I have to go and ask your twin brother instead?”
