Kelly’s POV
“You have a meeting with the model we want to hire for our products, Miss Kelly. After that, you have a meeting with the design team.”
I nodded at Yara while we’re walking towards my office. I just finished my second meeting for today and I’m already tired. This day would drain all of my energy. This is harder than I expected. Of course, I know how the business industry works but I’ve been resting for so long that going back to being an executive is tiring. I need to adjust to my new life and I know it won’t be easy.
I sat on my swivel chair, the same time my phone rang. I answered the call. “Hello, Emily.
[I’m taking Snow on a lunch date.]
I smiled, “Sure.”
[But please...tell her nanny that I don’t have a budget for her. Why tag along?]
I chuckled. “Let her be, Emily. Ana will take good care of her—”
[No, thanks! Just call her now because I left her in your condo. I’m in the car with Snow. Hey, love, say hello to mommy...]
I smiled even more after I heard my daughter’s voice. I’m glad I have someone I can trust when it comes to taking care of Snow. At least I won’t be that worried whenever I’m at work. I can work properly because of my newly found friends
My whole day was very busy. After my last meeting for today, I went back to my office again, exhausted. It was already 5 PM and I already informed Ana that I’m coming home late tonight. I was about to go straight to my swivel chair when I saw someone sitting on the couch and he’s watching me while I’m stretching my arms and neck.
My lips parted as I stood before his eyes awkwardly. When he chuckled, I felt my cheeks burn.
He pulled himself up and folded the sleeves of his polo. “You’re exhausted. Glad I came here to bring you some food. I bet you’re starving.”
I cleared my throat and bit my lower lip. I walked towards him while he’s preparing the food he brought for me.
“Why are you here, Pierce?”
He glanced at me and smiled again. “Mom cooked me food and I thought of bringing it here so we could eat together. I couldn’t eat them all. It’s too much.”
I glanced at the food in the food container. It looks very delicious and I admit I missed his mom’s cooking.
“So...” He trailed and tilted his head. “Do you...wanna eat with me? It’s just a...friendly dinner.”
I smiled at him and nodded. “Yeah. Sure.”
Pressing my lips together, I sat on the couch across from him. He looked nervous while preparing our food and I don’t know why he’s the one who’s nervous when I’m actually the one who should be because I’m hiding something.
He probably thought I wouldn’t agree, but I’m not really heartless when it comes to him. After all these years, I realize that even when I got mad at him, I couldn’t blame him because he didn’t tell me to love him. He didn’t know that I have feelings for him even before we got married and it intensified after he showed me how he is as a husband. He was caring. He was loving. He never gave me mixed signals because from the very beginning, he made it clear to me that I was just a best friend in his eyes...I just hoped. I dreamed...of something I thought beyond my imagination but seeing him now. His sincerity, the effort, the worry and care... I don’t know if I can still last, ignoring his feelings when I can see him still trying to pursue us.
I was beyond broken and I don’t wanna trust easily again, but I also know that running away won’t do me any good. I have to face the truth. I have to face my feelings. Soon...
