Kira was stumbard. 

Last night, Austyn did mention he would go to the hospital with her. 

But she thought he was just kidding. 

Besides, why did she need to dress up for a meeting with Gideon? 

It was not like it was a special occasion or anything 

Kira climbed into the car reluctantly. 

Austyn seemed dead set on going shopping 

He parked the car at a mall and leaded straight into Harrods. 

Sales assistants went up to him immediately. 

They had a good eye for telling apart potential high–spending customers and window shoppers. 

Austyn belonged to the former category. 

His bespoke suit and hand–made leather shoes made a statement. 

‘Good afternoon, sir, how may I help you today?” A female sales clerk offered Austyn a pleasant smile. 

‘I need clothes for her Austyn Hired his chin towards Kira, standing beside him. 

‘Of course, we have a wide selection of outfits for your girlfriend.” 

‘She’s not my girlfriend. 

The sales clerk grimaced. 

She’d put her foot in her mouth. 

If not a girlfriend, was the woman a mistress? 

They were standing so close together, they had to be a couple, right? 

And he was picking up the tab for the woman. 

‘She’s not my girlfriend.” Austyn took Kira’s hand. “She’s my wife! 

He scanned the racks upon racks of clothes in the store. Just bring out your new arrivals in her size. 

‘Yes, of course. Madam, this way please.‘ The sales clerk recovered quickly and gestured for Kira to follow her. ‘Do you have a preferred style? Are you looking for blouses, skirts, or dresses? Allow me to show you our selections.” 

She was being extra courteous to make up for her blunder earlier. 

Her solicitude made Kira uneasy. 

She hadn’t received this land of treatment when she came to the mall with Giana. 

The salesclerks remained in their seats and had not bothered with a greeting 

They’d pegged Kira and Giana as window–shoppers, therefore not worthy of their attention. 

*No wonder people like to be rich,” Kira thought. 

“Wait‘ Austyn’s voice stopped her. 

Kira turned around. ‘What’s wrong? 

“I wasn’t talling to you,”

‘s eyes fell on the sales clerk, who blushed immediately. ‘Sir, a–are you talking to me Austyn nodded 

The attention from a handsome and apparently wealthy man was intensely flattering. 

The sales clerk brushed a strand of hair away from her face and smiled. ‘Sir, what can I do for you?! 

Kira noticed the woman’s flushed cheeks and rolled her eyes. 

Austyn was such a flirt! 

She stood with her arms crossed, watching her husband using his charm on another woman. 

Austyn knitted his brows. 

Heippoured the sales clerk’s coquettish senile and pointed to a dress hanging on a rock behind her. ‘Talu that one. Let her try it.” 

The sales clerk’s smile froze. 

That was why he called out to her? 

Astyn glanced at her. “Did you hear me?! 

“Um, yes, sir.‘ The sales clerk blinked and regained her composure 

She removed the dress and came up to Kira, the courteous smile back on her face. “Madam, your husband has good taste. This dress is going to look good 

on you.” 

Kira returned her smile. ‘You’re right. My husband does have good taste.” 

She followed the woman into the fitting room. 

Austyn’s eyes lit up when Kira came out 

Coco Chanel was right. 

Every woman needed a little black dress. 

It was a timeless classic. 

This was Kira’s first black dress. 

It was V–neck, sleeveless and cinched at the waist. 

The midnight black of the fabric set off her ivory–white skin 

It was a perfect dress for her. 

Austyn came up to her. 

It took him a while to find his voice. You look beautiful.” 

Kira pulled on the hem of her dress, feeling a little self–conscious. ‘Then we’ll just take this one. Let’s go 

She almost had a heart attack when she saw the price tag earlier. 

This one dress cost more than her entire wardrobe, except for the Versace evening gown 

“Okay.‘ Austyn asked the sales clerk to wrap up the dress and paid the bill. 

As they left Harrods, Kira tried to think of a way to talk Austyn out of going to the hospital. 

Didn’t he have work to do? 

She dreaded thinking about what would happen when her current husband met her ex–boyfriend. 

But Austyn didn’t leave the mall 

He brought her to a shoe store, then to Sephora 

He stood in front of a display case filled with a dazzling array of cosmetics, frowned, and beckoned at a saleslady. 

‘My wife needs a makeup job. She’s too clumsy to do it herself.‘ 

Kira glared at him. 

What did he mean by ‘clumsy? 

Her fingers worked just fine! 

And she knew how to put on malcoup 

She just never had the time or the inclination. 

The saleslady led Kira to a dressing table, invited her to take a seat, and went to work on her face. 

Fifteen minutes later, the transformation was complete. 

Kira opened her eyes and stared at the rosy–cheeked girl in the mirror. 

The saleslady was gushing with compliments. “You have a good foundation. Your skin’s young and blemish–free. You don’t really need much work. So I went with a light touch.! 

Kira had to thank her. 

The lady did a marvellous job. 

Kira’s lare was positively glowing. 

Austyn was pleased with the result as well. 

He would’ve brought Kira to Vincent’s studio if he had more time, but this makeover was not hall bad. 

‘Come on “He led the way to the carpark. 

Her Little Black Dress 

Kira was dragged along, staggering in her four–inch heels. 

The shoes were new and they chafed her skin. 

You walk too fast,‘ she complained 

“You walk too slow,‘ Austyn said, but he slackened his pace anyway. 

Kira realised this was her last opportunity to change Austyn’s mind before they got in the car. ‘How about we don’t go to the hospital? It’s such a nice day. And I’m all dressed up. We’re already at the mall. Why don’t we go shopping? Pick out some new clothes for you? Or shoes? Or belts? Come on, it’ll 

be fun! 

Kira warmed up to the idea as she talked 

The two of them, hanging out at the mall, just like a regular couple. 

It would be like a date. 

They could go shopping, then catch a dinner and a

He was too busy and too important to go on dates. 

Kira looked around and saw young couples strolling by, holding hands. 

She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy. 

Her last date had been more than four years ago. 

‘Have some fun?” Austyn glanced at her. “At the mall? Are you kidding? 

“Why not? If you don’t like the mall, we could go to a parle. Or how about an ice skating rink? Can you skate?! 

‘I ski, but that’s irrelevant. We’re not going anywhere but the hospital.” 

Aw, come on, why not? It’s such a perfect day.‘ 

‘1 spent hours getting you ready for the meeting. I’m not letting it go to waste.” 

Getting her ready for the meeting? 

Kira was puzzled. 

What was so special about meeting Gideon? 

Austyn was making it sound like it was such a big deal, like she was attending a state dinner or something. 

She was bundled into the car before she could ask more questions. 

Austyn was not going to change his mind.

At least she gave it a try. 

The excitement of going on a date was

Gideon was no longer her boyfriend, but he was still a friend. 

He had been such a huge part of her past that it was impossible for Kira to completely erase him from her lite.

Gideon gave him the same answer he did half an hour ago. I’ll wait for Kira. You can go

‘She’s coming,’ Gideon cut him off. ‘She promised she would come. I’ll wait for her.‘ 

‘But you haven’t eaten for hours.‘ 

He was torturing himself 

Martin hated seeing his young master like this. 

If he didn’t eat, how was he going to have the strength to get better? 

They had business to take care of, and so many potential clients to meet. 

They couldn’t afford to waste more time at the hospital. 

But Martin knew how headstrong his young master could be. 

Gideon didn’t get to be the head of the family at the age of twenty–three by being accommodating. 

If he said he would wait for Kira, he would wait. 

Martin decided there was nothing more he could do from this end. 

So he had to call Miss Hewitt 

At least she would be more open to persuasion than Young Master. 

“Excuse me, Young Master, I need to stop outside for a minute! 

Gideon just nodded. 

Martin opened the door and turned left, his phone in hand. 

He almost bumped right into someone coming down the hallway. 

It took him a while to recognise the person. ‘Miss Hewitt!‘ 

She was wearing a dress and had makeup on, so different from her usual casual getup. 

Kira smiled at him. ‘Mr Patton, is Gideon in the room?” 

‘Yes. Young Master has been waiting for you this whole morning. He hasn’t had lunch yet‘ 

“Why didn’t you get him some food?” 

Martin sighed. “I tried, but he refused.” 

“Are we going to stand here and chat all day?‘ a man’s voice said. 

Martin saw Austyn for the first time. 

He was standing behind Kira with arrimpatient scowl on his face. 

Martin recognised the president of the M. Group 

Young Master said Mr. McCarthy was a friend. 

Let’s Go On A Date 

Martin held the door open for them.. 

Austyn clamped an arm around Kira’s waist and strolled inside. 

Gideon had heard Kira’s voice. 

He stared at the open doorway. 

The smile on his face vanished when he saw Kira come in with a man’s arm around her waist. 

The Current Husband Vs The Ex–boyfriend 

Austyn’s and Kira’s shoulders were touching. 

Gideon clenched his jaw. 

He forced himself to keep it together. 

He knew Kira was married. 

He knew the man was Avistyn. 

But knowing she was with another man and seeing it with his own eyes were completely different. 

The green–eyed monster reared its ugly head. 

Gideon’s blood was boiling 

He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the arm wrapped so intimately around Kira’s waist.

Austyn took in the glint in Gideon’s eyes and the veins throbbing in the side of his neck. 

Pleased with the reaction, Austyn flashed him a smile. “For someone who’s just bren shot, you’re looking good.” 

His voice pulled Gideon’s mind back to the present. 

He tried to keep his voice as even as possible. ‘You too. For someone who took such a vicious beating from the Santoro guy, you bounce back quite fast!
