Kira eyed him suspiciously. 

She’d fallen into a food coma after ending the call. 

She killed time playing games on her phone and must have dozed off. 

Liam pulled out a chair and sat down opposite her. ‘I came right on time, with one minute to spare, actually.” 

Kira went straight to the point. “What’s Kayleigh’s address?” 

“Hey, I just sat down. Didn’t even have time to catch my breath yet. I would’ve expected at least a “How do you do,” if not a free dinner. Shouldn’t we catch up first before getting down to business?” 

“We are strangers. There’s nothing for us to catch up on ‘ 

“Ouch.” Liam placed a hand over his heart. That cuts me to the quick. Are we still strangers after we kissed twice? If you want, I could

His words only reminded her of her past stupidity.

Liam put up both hands as if to surrender. ‘Okay, okay, I’ll stop. On to business then, why do you want Kayleigh’s address?” 

‘I need to see her.‘

‘That’s none of your business. Do you have her address or not?‘ 

Liam leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms in front of his chest. 

‘For that information, what do I get in return?” 

‘I have some info you might find interesting.” 

‘Oh yeah? Like what?‘ 

‘Like what happened to your business partner, Santoro. You haven’t seen him for the past two days, have you?! 

Liam sat up straight. 

Kira knew, from his reaction, that she had him. 

“What do you know? Liam asked quickly. 

‘I know what happened to him.” 

‘Tell me.” 

‘You tell me Kayleigh’s address first.” 

Liam stared at Kira, who returned a level gaze of her own.

She checked out Sunglade online on her phone. 

It was an upscale apartment complex in the swanky part of town. 

It didn’t sound like Liam was making this up. 

‘Do you know who bought the apartment for her?‘ he asked. 

Kira looked at him blankly. 

“Your husband.‘ Liam smirked. ‘Did you know that even a one–bedroom unit there costs way over half a million dollars?‘ 

Kira said nothing. 

“I don’t understand why you’d want to remain faithful to a man like that. Honestly, I don’t get it.‘ 

‘Fidelity is my duty as his wife. Of course I’ll remain faithful to him.”

The last time Liam had asked that question, Kira had said no. 

But if Liam wasn’t happy with that answer. 

Kira put on a coy smile. “Yes, I love him.”

She said with a smile, ‘I love him. That’s my business. Whether he loves me or not, that’s his business,” 

Liam stared at her, astounded. 

After a while, he said, “You’re faking it. You pretend like you don’t care if Austyn loves you. Come on. You’re lying to me. And you’re lying to yourself, Kira lost interest in talking to him. 

She’d got what she wanted anyway. 

She pushed back her chair and stood up. “I think we’re done here‘ 

‘Are you getting mad because I saw through your ? 

Kira’s face was stony, ‘You are too narrow–minded and arrogant. You believe in your own judgement and no one else’s. Once your mind is made up, you turn a deaf ear to any opinion to the contrary. You keep insisting that I don’t love Austyn because that’s what you believe, no matter how many times I tell you that I do. Talking to you is like talling to a wall. What else is there left to say? 

Liam gawked at her, open–mouthed. 

“I really have something important to do. So, if you’ll excuse me,’ 

“Wait.‘ Liam stood up and blocked her excit

She knew Santoro was his business partner.

Why wouldn’t she suspect he was in on Santoro’s plan?

Liam understood why the officers asked him those questions yesterday..

Kira shrugged, ‘I did suspect you, but then I remembered that the last time I saw Santoro at your house, you held him off and let me go. If you were his accomplice, I would not have walked out of that house that day.‘

“Now that I’ve told you everything I know, I think we’re done here.”
