Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1237

Chapter 1237: Little Risk

"Destroy one beacon to advance to the next stage."

The words had barely dropped before Atticus’s mind ran like a supercomputer.

’So they’re beacons.’

He fixed his eyes on the orb of light beneath them.

"Surround it," he said suddenly, and the group vanished from the skies, appearing all around the orb, cold eyes cautiously glancing around the haze.

’The other lights must be the other beacons,’ Atticus thought, focusing on the numerous lights shining through the haze in the distance.

’Other groups.’ As he realized, he began to understand the structure of this scenario.

’Each group is protecting one beacon. Destroying one allows you to ascend to the next scenario.’ He thought. ’If our beacon is destroyed, then we’ll most likely get pulled out of the competition entirely.’ Atticus’s gaze turned cold. He couldn’t have that.

’We have to defend and also attack.’ He fixed his gaze on the beacons in the distance. To destroy one, they had to move from their positions.

’It’s not movable.’ He glanced below the beacon, which looked as though the orb had fused into the ground. They couldn’t move it with them.

’We have to split up into two teams.’ Atticus concluded. One had to defend, and the other had to attack. It was the only way.

Less than a nanosecond had passed since the goal had been announced and the others had remained silent to allow Atticus think. Now, he had decided their next course of action.

"Ozeroth, Grandpa, and Zenon would defend the orb. Aric and I will attack," Atticus said quickly, eliciting a grunt from Ozeroth almost immediately.

"Bond—"

"I know what you’re about to say," Atticus cut in before Ozeroth could continue. "Think about it, what god would stay behind to defend their orb? They’ll probably try to destroy an orb as soon as possible. Which means, if you stay behind..." he trailed off.

"A god will come..." Ozeroth finished his words. A grin spread across his face almost instantly. "Alright, bond! I’ll defend this orb!" he said confidently, unable to hide his excitement.

Atticus maintained an impassive face. He hid the fact that he had basically just manipulated the spirit well.

The truth was, the orb was the most important part of this scenario. Once it’s gone, the world is out of the Virelenna.

No god would be stupid enough to leave their orb unless they had someone they absolutely trusted who could protect it.

’At least in the beginning of the scenario, most would try to defend and would only leave at a later time,’ Atticus predicted.

It wasn’t a hundred percent accurate, considering he didn’t know much about what the others were capable of.

Atticus nodded towards Magnus and Zenon, who returned his nod. Then met eyes with Aric, who returned his look.

"Let’s go," he said, and both of them blurred, their figures tearing into the haze, heading towards the nearest beacon at fast speed.

’The beacon should be safe.’ Atticus tried to peer his mind away from the beacon and focus on the task at hand.

The thick fog made it impossible to see past a certain range. It was impossible to see everything going on.

Everywhere was dark, and there was only one source of light, their only guides, the beacons.

If their beacon was under attack, it was impossible for them to know once they’d left the base.

This was why Atticus wanted someone he knew for certain could handle everything. Even a god.

He suspected the gods would remain in their bases for now, but he had left Ozeroth behind because of the small margin that he was wrong.
