Chapter 87: You Didn’t Bring a She–Wolf Home, Did You?
(Aria’s POV)
Eva’s words echoed in my head like a persistent drumbeat. A crush on a she–wolf? For over ten years? The revelation shouldn’t have affected me so strongly, yet my wolf stirred restlessly beneath my skin, uneasy of
this new information.
“Here you go!” Olivia’s cheerful voice broke through my thoughts as she returned with two glasses of moonberry punch. She handed me one, then paused, studying my expression. “What were you two talking
about? You look troubled.”
I took a small sip of the sweet, tart liquid before answering. “Eva just told me that Dominic has been cherishing a moon–bonded she–wolf for over ten years.”
“A moon–bond?” Olivia’s eyebrows shot up. “That’s serious. Not quite a mate bond, but definitely more than a casual relationship.”
“I know,” I said, my hand unconsciously moving to my slightly rounded belly. “I wonder who she is.”
Olivia scanned the room thoughtfully, her gaze finally settling on Alison Lewis, who was engaged in animated conversation with several high–ranking werewolves.
“Maybe it’s Alison Lewis?” she suggested, nodding toward the elegant she wolf. “She certainly has the bloodline and status that would make her suitable for an Alpha King. And did you see how she looked at him
earlier?”
I followed her gaze, taking in Alison’s confident posture and the way she commanded attention from those around her. She was everything I wasn’t poised, powerful, from a prestigious bloodline.
“You could be right,” I admitted, ignoring the strange twinge I felt at the thought. “She’d certainly make a more appropriate match than…” I trailed off, not finishing the thought.
“Than you?” Olivia finished bluntly. “That’s ridiculous.”
“Is it?” I challenged softly. “Look at her, Olivia. And look at me – pregnant with another wolf’s pup, in the middle of a mate bond severance.”
“Well,
Olivia said with a shrug, “it shouldn’t matter to you anyway, right? Since your relationship with Dominic is just an act.”
“Right,” I agreed quickly, perhaps too quickly. “It doesn’t matter at all”
I My wolf disagreed, whimpering softly within me, but I firmly pushed that reaction aside. I had no right to feel anything about Dominic’s personal life.
The bidding meeting concluded successfully a few hours later. I was relieved to see Dominic had scoured several important contracts, though he seemed unsurprised by the outcome. After saying our goodbyes to Dr. Lewis and pointedly avoiding Alison, we headed back to his luxury SUV
“That went well,” Olivia commented as we drove away from the venue. “I made at least six potential business contacts for my neutral zone commerce management.”

I smiled tiredly. I’m glad one of us accomplished something tonight.”
“You did your part, Dominic said, his deep voice rumbling from the driver’s seat. Your presence asotiver, silenced more matchmaking attempts than you realize.”
Despite the success of the evening, exhaustion weighed heavily on me. Pregnancy was taking its toll my wolf demanding rest after the stress and excitement of the gathering. The gentle humming of the engine and the comfortable leather seats made it increasingly difficult to keep thy eyes open
“Are you okay?” I heard Olivia ask distantly, her voice laced with concern.
“Just tired,” I managed to mumble before darkness claimed me completely.
I vaguely registered being lifted, the scent of pine and midnight enveloping me. Strong arms held me securely against a warm chest. I felt safe, protected. My wolf sighed contentedly as I drifted deeper into sleep.
The next thing I knew, sunlight was streaming through unfamiliar windows. I blinked in confusion, taking in my surroundings. The room was spacious and elegantly appointed, with silver–infused sheets carrying a distinctive Alpha scent I immediately recognized as Dominic’s.
I sat up in alarm, my heart racing. I was in Dominic’s bed! I noted with relief that I was still wearing my evening gown from the night before, though it was wrinkled beyond repair. What happened? How did I end up
here?
Looking around frantically, I spotted neatly folded clothes on a nearby chair and new toiletries arranged on a side table, all carrying the subtle moon sage scent favored by elite werewolves. The thoughtfulness of the gesture caught me off guard.
Before I could decide what to do, the door opened and Dominic walked in carrying a breakfast tray. His powerful frame filled the doorway, his silver–gray eyes immediately finding mine.
“You’re awake,” he said simply, setting the tray on the bedside table. “I thought you might be hungry.” The tray was laden with foods carefully selected for a pregnant she–wolf–moon–poached eggs with their distinctive silver sheen, silver pine toast known for its nutritional benefits, and a tall glass of moonberry juice rich in vitamins essential for developing pups.
“How did I end up here?” I asked awkwardly, trying to smooth my rumpled dress and tame my undoubtedly
messy
hair. I felt vulnerable, exposed in a way that had nothing to do with my clothing.
“You fell asleep in the car,” he explained, those silver–gray eyes watching me with an unreadable expression. “1 didn’t want to wake you. You needed the rest.”
“But where did you sleep?” I glanced around nervously, noting no signs that he had shared the bed.
“I have guest rooms,” he replied with a slight smile that made my heart skip a beat. “Eat before it gets cold.”
Despite my embarrassment, my pregnant wolf was ravenous. I gratefully accepted the tray, savoring the first bite of the perfectly cooked eggs.
“This is delicious,” I admitted. “Thank you.”
Dominic settled into a chair near the bed, watching me eat with quiet satisfaction. “How are you feeling today?”
“Better,” I said honestly. “I didn’t realize how tired I was.”

Pregnancy requires more rest than you might expect, he commented. Especially when
pup.
His matter–of–fact acceptance of my condition continually surprised me. Alexander had never shown such understanding or consideration for my needs.
