Chapter 160: What is Alexander Hiding?

Chapter 160: What is Alexander Hiding?

(Aria’s POV)

“My brother was harmed by you, right?” I asked, a slight frown creasing my brow as I studied David Turner’s face for any sign of guilt or satisfaction.

My wolf sensed the tension in the air, the undercurrents of pack politics and old grievances swirling around us like a dangerous storm.

David Turner merely smiled, slowly adjusting the thin blanket covering his legs in his wheelchair. His movements were deliberate, calculated, as if he was buying time to consider his response.

Then he looked up at me with that calculating gaze I remembered from our previous encounters. “What happened to your brother? Tell me so I can be happy about it.”

I

The casual cruelty in his words made my blood boil. Just as I was about to burst into anger, my wolf bristling beneath my skin with protective fury, Dominic gently squeezed my wrist.

I instinctively turned to see him subtly shaking his head. His powerful Alpha presence remained calm and controlled, signaling me not to be impulsive.

His silent guidance helped me regain my composure. I took a deep breath, forcing down the anger that welled up in my chest, and then turned my head away from David’s mocking expression.

“Alpha Turner, it’s best not to take credit for things you haven’t done,” Dominic said, his voice unhurried but carrying unmistakable authority.

The imposing aura cultivated from his Alpha King position was not to be underestimated. His scent radiated power and control, making even David’s pack enforcer shift nervously.

“My mate is worried about her brother’s safety,” Dominic continued smoothly. “What if, in a moment of desperation, she loses her composure and accidentally harms Alpha Turner? Wouldn’t that be unfair to you?”

At these words, I looked at Dominic in surprise. What did he mean? Could it be that David wasn’t responsible for my brother’s predicament?

The possibility sent a chill through me. If David wasn’t the culprit, then who was?

David raised an eyebrow slightly, and when he looked at Dominic, his gaze held a hint of appreciation and admiration despite their territorial rivalry.

“Alpha Dominic, how are you so certain I didn’t harm your mate’s brother?” David’s voice carried challenge and curiosity. “You should know the grievances between him and me.”

His expression darkened as he continued. “With the things he did to my pack, ever. wouldn’t extinguish the hatred in my heart!”

ig a hundred times

The raw emotion in his voice made my pregnant wolf whimper anxiously. The depth of his hatred was palpable, filling the space between us with poisonous intent.

Dominic smiled lazily, his silver–gray eyes gleaming with confidence. “Because you wouldn’t dare.”

Chapter 160 What is Alex….

David’s smile faded slightly at these words. His eyes intently stared at Dominic, his wolf’s scent shifting with

suppressed anger.

The air grew thick with tension as the two Alphas engaged in their verbal sparring match.

Dominic, however, seemed completely oblivious to the barely contained fury in David’s eyes. He continued smoothly, his tone casual but loaded with meaning.

“No matter how foolish James is, he is still my brother–in–law. Just for that alone, you wouldn’t dare touch

him.”

The reminder of Dominic’s protection over my family sent a warm feeling through my chest. Even James, despite his mistakes, was under the Shadow Pack’s protection now.

Seeing the atmosphere between the two Alphas suddenly become tense and confrontational, I couldn’t help but clench my fingers. My pregnant wolf whimpering anxiously within me as I sensed the potential for

violence.

I saw David’s pack enforcer, who had been standing silently by his side, looking at Dominic and me with sharp vigilance. The man’s hand rested near his weapon, ready to act if his Alpha gave the command.

My heart was filled with tension as I realized how quickly this meeting could turn dangerous.

Just then, David suddenly let out a few hearty laughs, breaking the hostile tension. “Yes, Alpha Dominic is right, I really wouldn’t dare touch him.”

His admission was pragmatic rather than fearful. “They say even a territorial Alpha must respect the Alpha King’s authority. This is, after all, your Shadow Pack’s influence in the Northern Territory.”

He adjusted his position in the wheelchair, his movements careful and measured. “Both in terms of pack law and courtesy, I should give Alpha Dominic some respect.”

Dominic slightly curled his lips at the acknowledgment, but showed no gratitude. Instead, he directly asked the question that had brought us here.

“My mate’s brother has been driven to mental instability by someone. Do you know who did it?”

His Alpha authority filled the space, demanding answers with the weight of his position.

“How would I know that?” David smiled, though his eyes remained cold and calculating. “Alpha Dominic, aren’t you overestimating me?”

Dominic merely smiled, his powerful presence unwavering. “I hope Alpha Turner will not hesitate to enlighten

us.”

David’s gaze fixed on Dominic for several seconds, as if weighing his options. Then he suddenly burst into laughter, the sound echoing off the walls.

He shook his head and adjusted the thin blanket that was about to slide down his

zed legs.

“I actually don’t know much either,” he admitted. “However, when my pack members arrived that day, James was already incoherent, his wolf completely withdrawn.”

The image he painted made my heart clench. My brother, reduced to such a state by someone’s cruelty.

“Seeing him come to such an end, I considered it indirectly avenging my destroyed pack, so I let him fend for himself.”

I subconsciously glanced at Dominic. If it wasn’t David, then who could have harmed my brother like this?

However, as soon as this thought surfaced in my mind, one person immediately came to mind. Could it really

be Alexander?

But Alexander and my brother don’t have such deep–seated animosity. Not to mention, James had been supporting Alexander’s attempts to reconcile with me.

Logically, they were least likely to become enemies, especially with James being just a low–ranking wolf compared to Alexander’s Alpha status.

“Thank you, Alpha Turner. We won’t disturb you further.”
