Chapter 100: The Alpha Thet Night Was Him?

(Arla’s POV)

I stared at her in shock, my teacup frozen halfway to my lips. The private dining room at Silver Moon restaurant suddenly felt suffocating

Richard? My voice came out as a whisper. But why would he-

Because I discovered his affair with Claire,” Elizabeth cut in, her amber eyes flashing with decades of suppressed anger. And that wasn’t even the worst of his betrayals.

Martha, the old pack housekeeper, placed a comforting hand on Elizabeth’s shoulder. The two shared a look that spoke of years of silent understanding.

Richard Reed was never meant to be Alpha of Storm Pack,Elizabeth continued, her hands shaking slightly. That position should have rightfully belonged to Alexander through direct bloodline. Richard manipulated pack politics, forged alliances through deception, all to steal the position.”

I reached across the table and gently took her trembling hand in mine. Despite everything that had happened between Alexander and me, I still cared deeply for his mother.

Would you like some silverpine tea? It might help calm your wolf,” I offered, already signaling to a server. Elizabeth nodded gratefully, her wolf’s scent betraying her exhaustion. You were always thoughtful, Aria. That’s why IShe paused, gathering her composure. That’s why I’ve always thought of you as a daughterThe server brought the tea, and I prepared it the way Elizabeth preferredwith just a hint of moonberry honey. I never had a daughter in the pack, she continued after taking a sip. I needed to confide in someone I trusted. Someone who would understand.

Why haven’t you left him?I asked gently. After what he’s done, surely a mate bond severance- Elizabeth’s bitter laugh cut me off. It’s not that simple for werewolves of our standing. Storm Pack has territory agreements and business alliances with several other packs. All intertwined, all dependent on Richard and me remaining mated.

She stared into her teacup, her reflection rippling in the silverinfused liquid.

If those bonds were dissolved abruptly, the consequences would be devastating for countless pack members, she explained, her voice hollow with resignation. Sometimes we must sacrifice our own happiness for the greater good.

I nodded, understanding her predicament all too well. Hadn’t I endured years of Alexander’s emotional neglect for similar reasons?

Elizabeth suddenly reached across the table and clasped both my hands in hers, her amber eyesso lil son’spleading with me.

Aria, she said, her voice cracking with emotion, I need to ask you something important. Please, don’t finalize your mate bond severance with Alexander.

Chapter 100. The Alphag

I pulled back slightly, stunned by her request Whatz:

know about Claire’s pregnancy, Elizabeth rushed on. I can prevent her from having that pup. 1.

she never comes between you and Alexander again.

Her desperation was palpable, her wolf’s scent sharp with anxiety.

That pup is the only reason you want to leave my son, isn’t it?she asked, her voice breaking. If Claire were gone, you would stay?

I felt a coldness spread through me. So this was why Elizabeth had reached outnot out of genuine affection, but to manipulate me into staying with Alexander.

Elizabeth,I said carefully, my hand instinctively moving to my belly where my own unborn pup grew. My decision to leave Alexander has nothing to do with Claire’s pregnancy.

But he loves you?she insisted, tears forming in her amber eyes. You don’t see how he is when he’s away from you. He comes home drunk from pack gatherings, his wolf howling your name through the night.”

A hollow laugh escaped my lips. If that were true, he wouldn’t have publicly humiliated me Claire. He wouldn’t have neglected me for years:

Hen

made mistakes, Elizabeth pleaded. All wolves do. But the mate bond-

I’ve made my decision,” I cut her off firmly, disappointment washing over me in waves. My wolf whimpered softly within me, mourning the loss of what I had thought was genuine maternal affection from Elizabeth. Was any of it real?I asked quietly, unable to hide the hurt in my voice. Your kindness to me all these years? Or was it just another way to control me, to keep me bound to your son?

Elizabeth’s face crumpled. Of course it was real! Aria, please-

I stood abruptly, needing to escape this conversation. Thank you for your honesty about Richard’s betrayal. I appreciate that you trusted me with that information.

Aria, don’t leave like this,Elizabeth pleaded, reaching for my hand.

I stepped back, maintaining the distance between us. Goodbye, Elizabeth. I hope you find peace, whatever you decide to do about Richard.

As I walked out of Silver Moon restaurant, my heart felt heavier than before. Another relationship tainted by manipulation and ulterior motives.

Tomorrow was my mate bond severance ceremony with Alexander. One final tie to cut, and then I would truly

be free.

But free for what? To terminate my pregnancy? To start over alone? The future stretched before me, uncertain and frightening.

Night had fallen by the time I returned to my apartment at Moon Valley Residences. My pregnant wolf as restless beneath my skin as I paced the living room, unable to quiet my racing thoughts.

What if something went wrong with the mate bond severance tomorrow? What if Alexander attempted to block it? What if Claire made another scene?

And then there was the matter of my scheduled appointment at Wolf Moon Medical Center the day after. My

hand drifted to my belly, the slight swell a constant reminder of the painful decision ahead

I finally collapsed onto my bed, exhaustion overwhelming me despite my anxiety. Sleep claimed me reluctantly, pulling me into its depths.

And then I was dreaming, vividly reliving that night at the territorial gathering.

I felt the disorientation of the drugged wolfwhiskey and moonberry extract coursing through my system. The room spun around me as I sat on the edge of the silverinfused bed in the Quinn estate’s quest den.

A male wolf entered, his powerful Alpha scent filling the room. In my compromised state, I tried to stand, to get away, but my limbs felt heavy and unresponsive.

Stay still, the male voice commanded softly. You’ve been drugged.

My wolf reacted aggressively to his presence, the moonberry Influence heightening her territorial instincts. I growled, trying to push him away, but he easily caught my wrists.

Aria, stop. I’m trying to help you.”

There was something disturbingly familiar about his scent, about the way he spoke my name. The room was dimly lit, shadows concealing his features.

Who are you?I managed to ask, my words slurring slightly.

He didn’t answer immediately, instead helping me lie down properly on the bed. My wolf’s resistance

weakened as exhaustion from fighting the drugs took over.
