Chapter 123
After leaving the Webster family, Simone got word that Irwin Group was holding a shareholders meeting, and Nolan was going to be there.
Simone couldn’t shake a bad feeling. Not daring to waste a second, she rushed straight to Irwin Group, When she arrived, she saw Cyrus in the middle of signing the contract to step down as president
She caught sight of the scene from the doorway, her face instantly changing. She dashed over and snatched the pen right out of Cyrus’s hand.
“Simone, what are you doing here?” Cyrus was surprised to see her, but even more embarrassed–having her see him like this was humiliating
Simone sayed d calm. She looked straight at Cyrus and said, enunciating every word. “You can’t sign this”
young to understand. The only way to save Irwin Group is
Cyrus reached out and patted her head, forcing a bitter smile. “Simone, you’re still too y for me to step down. If I don’t sign, the company will go bankrupt
“I said you can’t sign, and that’s final. Simone’s eyes were full of determination, and even if she didn’t realize it herself, her concern for Cyrus was obvious.
one was Cynix’s daughter–after
Nolan watched the whole thing, finding it an eyesore. He and Cyrus were never going to get along, and Simone was everything he’d done to Cyrus, she probably hated him now.
Nolan’s eyes darkened. “Simone, if you stick with Cyrus, life’s only going to get harder. Why not come with me? Everything I have will be yours.” He pressed his lips together, not daring to meet her eyes, afraid he’d see only disgust or hatred there.
Simone wasn’t sure where she stood with Nolan anymore, so her tone turned cold. As long as I’m here, Cyrus will never have to suffer.”
Cyrus felt a rush of warmth in his heart at her words.
Nolan froze. Simone used to be so close to him, always sweet and affectionate with him. But now, he could only feel the distance and coldness in her voice–she really seemed to dislike him
Realizing this, a trace
a trace of loneliness flashed in Nolan’s eyes. His heart ached, and his hands stiffened on the arms of his wheelchair.
Simone didn’t notice the shift in their moods. Seeing how crowded the meeting room was, she hurriedly said, “You two, come with me. With that, she led the way out
Even though Cyrus and Nolan were still confused, they had no choice but to put aside what they were doing and follow her out. The three of them ended up in Cyrus’s office.
Once inside, Simone didn’t waste any words. She went straight to the computer and played a video showing Nolan’s personal driver messing with the brakes on his car.
Cyrus and Nolan had no idea what she was getting at, but the moment they saw the footage, their faces changed. That was the exact car Nolan had been driving the day of his accident years ago, and they recognized it instantly.
Both of them stated seriously at the sneaky figure in the video. “Who is that?” they asked by the same time.
Simour didn’t answer
t answer directly. “Uncle Nolan, I think you’ve already guessed, haven’t you?”
Nolan immediately shook his head. “No way Leonard’s been with me for over ten years–he even saved my life when I was a kid. There’s no way he’d betray anc
Simone pulled out a few of Leonard’s daughter’s medical records. “Uncle Nolan, I’m guessing he never told you his daughter was born with a heart
condition, did her
“That’s his family business I never get involved, Nolan replied, looking a bit surprised. He really hadn’t known, but he didn’t think there was anything wrong with that
“Even before your accident, there were already money transfers between Cordell and him. His daughter needed money for treatment and had been waiting for a sunable heart for years, but nothing ever canye up
“Bus on the very morning you had your accident, his daughter happened to get a matching heart. Don’t you think that’s too much of a coincidence?” As Simone spoke, she pulled out the printed bank records of transactions between Cordell and Leonard.
“Cordell? How could it be?” Nolan stared at the bank statements, his face darkening. Cordell was his childhood friend, the only one who still kept in touch after his accident
Nolan gripped the printouts tightly, his expression looking absolutely terrible. The truth was harsh, but he couldn’t stay in the dark forever.

Chapter 123
Simone plugged in a USB drive and played the final video–surveillance footage from Cordell’s study. In the video, Cordell was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed, and right next to him was Leonard.
Condell looked at Leonard with a hint of approval in his eyes. “You did a great job. This is your reward,” he said, pushing a box full of cash toward
Leonard.
Leonard didn’t take the money right away. He looked at Condell, his voice strady. “All I want is for my daughter to get a matching heart. I don’t want your money.”
Cordell suddenly laughed, Leonard, what are you saying? Your daughter’s
‘s heart has already been arranged. You did such a good job this time–this money is just a little extra from me. He pushed the box of cash over again.
This time, Leonard didn’t refuse. But as he was about to leave, he asked Cordell, “Mr. Webster, you and Nolan grew up together and were always so close. Why would you want to hunt him!”
At the mention of Nolan, Cordell stopped smiling. His face nirmed cold, and a flash of hatred appeared in his eyes. “I can’t stand him. He’s always been better than me, and his family background is better. Every time we competed, he was always first.
In college, the girl I chased for three years wouldn’t even look at me, but she clung to Nolan like a leech.
“Even in the Webster family, I was way more capable, but my father would rather hand the company to that useless fool than to me. But Nolan? He got to be treated fairly by Graham and was allowed to compete for the heir’s spot
*Ladmit I was jealous–so jealous I wished he’d just die. Too bad the car accident didn’t kill him. But seeing the golden boy end up crippled? That’s almost as satisfying
“Watching him become a cripple, I was thrilled. Now he’ll never steal my spotlight again, Cordell spat, his face twisted with hatred.
Nolan sat frozen as he watched the video. “That bastard. Il make him pay for this, he growled, eyes bloodshot as he glared at the computer screen
“Uncle Nolan, now the truth is out. Here, this is for you, Simone said, safely ejecting the USB drive from the computer and placing it in Nolan’s hand
Cyrus saw this and patted Nolan’s shoulder in comfort. After a moment, he explained. The reason I was there that day was because someone told me you’d be in danger”
Even though things always looked tense between him and Nolan, they were brothers by blood. No matter how fierce the competition for the heir’s seat, Cyrus had never once thought of hurting Nolan.
