A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo) novel Chapter 264

As Edward listened to Janet's increasingly harsh words, he finally stepped in.

"That's enough. If you're going to make accusations, bring proof. You claim this child belongs to Benson—where's the evidence?"

Without hesitation, Sophie reached into her bag and carefully retrieved a medical report. "These are my examination results, along with the ultrasound scan."

Edward glanced through the documents before passing them to Sierra. "Let that ungrateful fool see for himself—the consequences of his actions."

Before Sierra could take them, Theo stepped in, placing the documents beside Benson.

However, Janet seized them first. The moment her eyes fell on the ultrasound image, her expression contorted with disbelief.

This bitch was actually pregnant.

No. She absolutely couldn't allow this illegitimate child to be acknowledged.

With a sharp slap, she slammed the documents onto the table, her voice cold. "So what if you're pregnant? My son will never marry you. Get rid of that child immediately."

The room plunged into stunned silence. Every pair of eyes turned toward Janet, shocked by her ruthless words.

Sophie's face paled as she turned to Benson, her eyes pleading desperately. "Benson, this is your child—our child. He would be heartbroken if he knew his own father didn't want him."

Tears streamed down her face as she struggled to hold back sobs.

"This baby is the proof of our love, the bond we share!"

For a brief moment, uncertainty flickered in Benson's eyes. His gaze wavered, filled with hesitation and inner conflict, but in the end, he remained silent.

Sophie's body stiffened, and she turned her gaze toward Sierra and the others. "You can't force me to get rid of this child! This is Benson's firstborn—the Gray family's heir!"

Edward hadn't expected Janet to be so heartless, willing to deny even her own grandchild.

Watching Sophie break down in tears, he let out a sigh and insisted, "Rest assured. In our family, we do not raise men who shirk their responsibilities."

He then turned to Janet, his voice laced with reproach. "That baby is a life! How could you even suggest getting rid of it? That's unthinkable!"

"Edward..." Janet murmured, trying to object.

Her eyes narrowed as she shot Sophie a withering glare.

To her, Sophie was utterly insignificant—she had no power, no prestige, nothing that could help Benson's future. She wasn't even on Sierra's level.

What possible reason was there for Benson to marry her?

To be a meaningless decoration in their family?

Absolutely not. Janet would do everything in her power to stop this marriage from happening.

Besides, she couldn't care less about the child growing in Sophie's womb. If this one didn't work out, another would come. Benson was young and healthy—he would have plenty of chances to have children in the future.

Her mind was set. She would find Benson a wife from an even more powerful and influential family than Sierra's.

Glaring at Sophie, Janet's eyes smoldered with fury, as if she were willing Sophie to disappear from their lives entirely.

Under Janet's intense stare, Sophie shrank back, fear gripping her chest. Her voice wavered as she pleaded, "Mrs. Gray, Benson and I truly love each other. I promise I will be the perfect wife—please, I beg you, give us your blessing!"
