Yvette’s mess had been the hot topic in the family group chat for days.
Gideon and Fleur were mortified. They didn’t dare show their faces around the rest of the Baker clan. Every time they bumped into someone, the whispers started up again.
Yvette knew it was over with Silas. It was clear that he believed Calliope, he cared about Calliope, and he had absolutely zero interest in her.
Worse, her stunt meant she’d totally burned her bridges with her own husband and mother-in-law. Yvette could tell she was toast.
She got down on her knees that same day, begging Gideon and Fleur for forgiveness. The looks they shot her were pure disgust.
“Didn’t you want to seduce Silas?” Fleur sneered. “Why don’t you keep at it? See if you’re really up to the challenge!”
“Seriously, do you even know your own worth? Even we wouldn’t pick you, let alone Silas.”
“What a joke. What a fool.”
Fleur let her have it, even slapped her twice for good measure.
Gideon just lay there in his hospital bed, looking at her like she was dirt.
“I’m sorry!” Yvette cried. “I messed up. I swear I’ll never do anything like this again!”
She stayed kneeling, desperate. She knew if the Bakers kicked her out, she’d be in even bigger trouble. The whole family chat had seen what happened, and you could bet the gossip would be all over Capitalton before long.
After a long look, Gideon finally grumbled, “Fine. But you’d better shape up, or this is the end of the line for you.”
His glare made it clear, one more mistake, and she was out.
Yvette wouldn’t dare push her luck now. If staying meant she had to play nurse, so be it.
Gideon and Silas weren’t close anymore, but even so, Gideon was still worth more than anyone she could hope for.
“I get it. I’ll be good. I’ll take care of you, I swear!” Yvette promised, her voice trembling with sincerity. She knew she was lucky just to be allowed to stay.

But question is, why the hell Silas can't just open his mouth and tell Caliope that she's the one whom he has in his heart. He would prevent a lot of misunderstanding. Seems like despite capability of talking with modified arctic wolf, she's not like telepathic....

That's weird, in the first chapters there was said that her bio parents and bros doteď on Caliope but then they adopted Lisette, but this chapter suddenly says otherwise. Did author forget what he wrote?...
