When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 1981

Chapter 1981 Contrasting Grandparents
Cecilia recalled her stay at the Escobar residence once.

The two granddaughters of the Escobar family had accidentally shattered an antique vase and craftily pinned the blame on Cecilia.

Upon learning the news, Heather, without knowing the full story, began to hit her.

She found it tiring to punish Cecilia physically, so she had her two granddaughters take turns in doing so. Afterward, she tied Cecilia to a post outside, ignoring her pleas for mercy, and left the latter to suffer in the cold.

Later on, Regas rushed over and managed to save Cecilia in time.

Back then, it was winter.

Had it not been for the timely arrival of his father, Cecilia might have already frozen to death.

Following the incident, Regas requested to review the surveillance footage. Heather, fearful of her wealthy son-in-law, agreed.

After discovering the truth, she said, “So, it was a mix-up, but what can you do now? The mistake has been made. It's not like you can go around hitting the other two kids too.”

She didn't apologize. Instead, she addressed Cecilia, saying, “Cecilia, as your elder, whatever I do can never be wrong.”

Since then, Regas had never allowed Cecilia to visit the Escobar residence.

“Ms. Smith, we've arrived.”

The driver's voice rang out, jolting Cecilia from her reverie.

She opened her eyes, a listless look in them. “Alright.”

She opened the car door and stepped out.

Just as Cecilia arrived at the hospital room, she saw Queenie waving her over, phone in hand.

Cecilia asked quizzically, “What's wrong, Mom?”

“Your granny called,” Queenie said with a smile. “She wants to video chat with you.”

After hearing this, Cecilia immediately sat down.

On the other end of the video, Alphonse and Bethany wore gentle expressions.

Bethany even brought out a few small sweaters. “Ceci, what do you think of these clothes I made for my four great-grandchildren?”

Of course, Cecilia praised them.
