They Want Me Back When It's Too Late (Jessica and Brian) novel Chapter 310

Chapter 310

How much for a portrait?Brian asked, stopping at the artist’s booth.

Fifteen dollars, sir. You want a selfportrait? The artist looked up, his eyes widening when he saw Brian.

Nope, a portrait of my wife. Here’s her photo. Think you can do it?Brian pulled out Jessica’s picture and held it out.

The artist gave it a onceover. You bet. She’s got gorgeous featurestotal natural model.”

Brian couldn’t fight the smile at the compliment.

He stood there holding the photo as the artist worked, naturally drawing looks from people passing by.

When he saw phones aimed at the picture, he shot Jackson a quick look.

Jackson got the message right away and went to talk to the folks taking photos.

Brian turned back to watch the sketch come to life

After about ten minutes, the detailed drawing was done.

What do you think, sir?The artist swiveled the easel toward him.

Brian’s eyes softened at the nearexact copy of Jessica.

Looks great. Mind wrapping it up?He sent the artist 150 dollarsmore than the price, since he wanted to tip well for the good work.

The artist’s face lit up when he saw the transfer. No problem at all, thank you, sir.

He grabbed his best wrapping paper, carefully rolled up the sketch, and handed it over with both hands.

Brian took the package and started walking off.

Jackson rushed to keep up. Heading to Mrs. Atkinson’s place now, Mr. Atkinson?

First hit the pet store around here.Brian studied the portrait from the backseat.

He remembered Jessica had a golden retriever.

Got it.Jackson plugged the nearest pet shop into the GPS and took off.

Half an hour later, Brian stood outside Jessica’s apartment with a portrait in his left hand and bags of dog food and pet treats in his right.

He thought, Jessi’s probably still at the office.

He knelt down and carefully arranged the items by her door.

He thought, This way, if I don’t show my face, she’ll get less mad. Maybe I can keep doing this, but leaving stuff at the door isn’t exactly convenient.

As he looked at her doorway, an idea hit him.

That evening, Jessica got off the elevator and saw a pile of packages and a new wallmounted mailbox by her door.

She stood in front of the mailbox, staring silently for a while, then opened it to find a fancy bag of fresh blueberries.

Chapter 310

She’d suddenly started craving blueberries lately, and hardly anyone know that.

Only one person would go out of their way to send them.

Jessica stared at the blueberries in the mailbox, torn for a long moment before finally taking them out.

She thought, Since I’ve taken the fruit, I can’t ignore the rest.

Jessica squatted down and looked at the two piles by the door.

She opened the portrait first and found it was a sketch of herself.

The artist wasn’t amazing but had a real talent for capturing people’s looks and vibes.

The portrait showed her a few years younger. She wondered when Brian had taken the photo.

She wondered, So he’s kept it all this time?

Jessica had thought Brian had gotten rid of every trace of their time together. But little things like this kept reminding her that wasn’t true.

She thought, But what does it matter?

Jessica slowly rolled up the portrait, This painting was destined to gather dust in a closet.

After examining the portrait, Jessica grabbed the other shopping bag and found it stuffed with dog food and treats. She stared, speechless.

She thought, Has Brian seriously thought of everything for Pancake? What’s his endgame here?

She racked her brain but came up empty. Finally fed up, she decided to confront him the next time he showed his face.

Rip the bandage off and get straight to the pointcleaner for both of us.she thought.

But starting that day, Brian vanished. The guy who used to pop up everywhere suddenly turned into a ghost.

If not for the daily milk and breakfast in her mailbox, she’d swear he’d given up.

After two days of finding breakfast, dinner, and desserts waiting for her, Jessica laughed out of sheer frustration.

She thought, What kind of game is this? Does he think I’ll forget my anger just because he stays out of sight?

She seethed, yet kept accepting the deliveries.

I’m just testing his patience, she told herself. Definitely not going soft.

Jacob, fresh out of the hospital, was ready to soak up his summer vacation.

The second the weekend hit, he latched onto Brian.

Dad, please take me to the amusement park. It’s been forever,Jacob said, clinging to Brian’s arm.
