I looked down at my hands, still covered in blood. “I didn’t touch the other body. I was focused on Cass.” I looked at Rowan. “Did you?”
He frowned. “I was going to, but then something happened and I just smelled death, and listened for a heartbeat.”
“What happened?” My dad prodded.
“Nothing…” Rowan frowned.
My dad chuckled. “Something felt off, because something was off. The ‘body’ was probably Aurora still alive, and using magic to confuse you.” Rowan growled, but my father patted his shoulder. “Don’t get upset. The bitch is good at what she does.” He turned back to his office. “Get cleaned up and come back to my office.”
“Why?” I called out. I wanted to stay here, just in case Cass changed her mind about wanting someone with her.
“Because I have an idea. And it might be good enough to stop the war from even happening.” That caught everyone’s attention.
“Tell us.” Rowan stepped closer, but my dad waved his hand.
“I’ll mull it over until you two get cleaned up.” He wrinkled his nose. “You two stink of magic and death, and neither is a good thing right now. You are upsetting the wolves here, and we have enough of that going on already.” He turned and walked away. He looked over his shoulder. “I’ll have food brought up. And a good bottle of whiskey. Go get clean.” His words were command free, but I heard the order for what it was.
“Fine.” I grabbed Rowan’s hand and turned to Greyson. “If she needs anything, let me know and I will get it for you.”
He nodded. “Actually…”
I jumped at the chance. “What?”
He looked down. “Can you ask if I can be excused from duty? I want to stay with her.” He looked down. “I don’t want to shirk my duties, but my mate needs me.”
Rowan patted his shoulder. “You don’t even have to ask. We will get it straightened out, but you watch over your mate.” Greyson nodded and turned back to the door.
We walked back to my room, and unlike this morning’s shower, it was straightforward. “Jump in first. That way, when I’m showering, you can dry your hair.” Rowan kissed my temple as he heated the water.
“Keep talking like that, and I might just mate you for life.” I smirked as I slapped his butt, earning a chuckle.
“Promise?” He smirked as he pulled back. “Jump in. I want to know your father’s plan.”

We need updates…please!...
No new chapters in five days…come on 😤...
Good story!...
This is a good story, but the ability to only read a couple of chapters a day (which is equivalent to approximately one page in a book) is really causing me to lose interest....
473 and up are not loading anything...
I need to see Brandon get destroyed like now… unlock the chapters or fix your site so I can buy the damn coins...
“Locked chapter”??? “Unlock with 10 coins”???? This website advertises: “We provide free novel reading services to readers around the world”, but now I have to buy 10 coins to read each chapter?...
What’s up with having to buy coins to read the next eight chapters????...
Waiting patiently for an update! 😵💫...
