Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 356

“A bone marrow donation shouldn’t cause massive damage to the body, right?” asked Verian.

Yandel nodded. “At this stage, we don’t need a bone marrow donation. Donating hematopoietic stem cells works as well. And yes, it wouldn’t cause much damage to the body.”

Verian said, “Of course I’m willing to. My birth mother is lying on the sick bed and you guys have done no harm to me. If my cells are compatible, I’ll definitely donate them. My biology teacher used to say that donating hematopoietic stem cells is similar to donating blood and they undergo daily mitosis. Even if I donate mine, they’ll regenerate. Since there are no huge risks involved, of course I’d be willing to do it.”

Yandel spoke solemnly, “Thank you, Rainie.”

“You said we’re family. Since we’re a family, you don’t have to thank me.”

“Both families have not done a good job on taking care of you and you’re still willing to help us out. I’m really thankful to you.”

“Don’t worry about it, I’m Madam Gaunt’s birth daughter, so my cells are probably compatible with hers. How’s she feeling now?”

Yandel was stunned, “Her body is getting worse by the days. Time is running out.”

“Then we should arrange the match testing soon.”

Yandel was still stunned as he never thought that Verian would be so willing to help out. He smiled and said, “Before we found you, I always wondered whether you’re willing to carry out the match testing. Now I realized that I’m being too prejudiced. Rainie, you’re so kind.”

“After all, she’s my birth mother. I can’t be so cold-blooded. It’s not like I’m donating my kidney. If so, I’m not a saint and I’d definitely be worried about my own safety. However, donating my cells for the sake of my mother’s health is something I must do. Otherwise, I’d appear too immature.”

Yandel smiled and patted her head. “If it’s fine with you, we can do the match testing tomorrow.”

Verian was stunned for a moment.

She would not let Yandel know that this was how her ex-husband used to pat her head.

...

It was in North City in the Fudd Company.

Heaton received tons of photos in his mailbox. They were all images of Verian and a strange man. They looked very close together.

Heaton clenched his fists tightly.

They had just gotten divorced and she’s meeting someone else so soon?

Heaton exhaled as he closed his eyes and leaned against his chair.

Irritating images of Verian and the other man was running around in his mind. He was jealous.

“Kush, Kush!”

“Boss, you asked for me?”

Heaton looked irritated. “Yes, book me a flight ticket to South City.”

Heaton was having a bad day and was bent out of shape. Kush did not have the guts to tell him that they had a lot of work to finish up for the next few days.

“Alright, I’ll get it done right away.”

Kush stepped out of the office and let out a deep sigh. Whenever his boss had problems with Verian, he was always the first one to be affected.

...

It was in South City in the Gaunt’s mansion.

The only people at the dining table were Verian and Xylean.

As they ate, Verian asked, “Are we not waiting for Mr. Soan?”

“He’s probably not eating at home today.”

“Is Mr. Soan so busy with work?”

Verian thought that Yandel seemed to work even harder than Heaton.

Xylean took a sip of her Russian soup. “He’s afraid that I might lose my appetite if I see him around. He usually has dinner outside if I’m at home.”

Xylean’s eyes were still glued to the TV. “Her name’s Verian, not Rainie. The Gaunt’s have never raised her. Isn’t it inappropriate for you to change her name?”

Yandel rolled his eyes. “Where’s Verian then?”

“Upstairs, she wasn’t feeling well during dinner.”

Yandel glanced upstairs and asked, “Did she visit a doctor?”

“No. She's probably fine.”

Yandel went over and patted her head. Xylean looked away. “What? You’re messing up my hair.”

“What did you eat for dinner?”

Xylean was not interested in talking to him. “Can you stop asking me such boring questions?”

Yandel did not get mad. Xylean would always throw tantrums at Yandel, just like a teenager getting through puberty.

Yandel kept his hand back into his pocket. Xylean was eating a pack of chips and he could not help but tell her, “Please eat less junk food.”

Xylean did not really want to talk to him. “Hmph,” she said, showing some attitude.

As Yandel was heading upstairs, Xylean called out to him.

“Right, that thing I told you about in Florence, have you considered? School is starting soon and if you don’t settle it, I’m going to have to wait till the next semester to start school.”

Yandel was stunned. “Alright, I’ll tell you when it's settled.”

“Try to make it as soon as possible.”

Xylean would only urge him in such situations.

Feeling somewhat helpless, Yandel closed his eyes.
