Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 287

Heaton trembled.

He hugged her weak slender body tightly and said, “I won’t hurt anymore in a bit, I’ll get you out of here.”

Webs of blood capillaries could be seen in Heaton’s eyes. He seemed angry and also in pain… his gaze looked complicated.

Verian was bleeding uncontrollably.

Heaton did not face his back to her and instead, he tightly wrapped her in his arms, shielding her tiny body with his from the tips of the fire from burning her.

Verian had never felt so secure in his arms.

She struggled to look up with her pale white face from within his chest. She said, “Heaton, the fire is way too strong and you won’t be able to escape by carrying me with you. I’m already very happy… to know that you came here to save me… However, I don’t wish for you to die here with me… please go on without me…”

“What nonsense are you spouting, Verian!” Heaton yelled out furiously at her.

Verian buried her face in him and never said another word after that. Instead, she hugged him tighter.

After the fire was done burning, a burning suspended beam suddenly collapsed from above their heads.

Heaton desperately shielded Verian within his arms…

Verian was unconscious for a full day.

When she woke up, her entire body felt weak and her face was pale.

The first thing she thought about was Heaton.

“Heaton!”

At this very moment, a nurse came in to switch out her infusion fluids.

Verian immediately grabbed onto the nurse’s hand and said, “Nurse, where’s my husband? How is he?”

The nurse frantically shoved her back and said, “Don’t move, you had just lost your child and your body is currently very weak. Moreover, you’ve inhaled a lot of thick smoke so you need to rest.”

The child…

Verian was stunned.

She reached out to feel her flat belly.

In the end, her child was still gone.

“Your husband happens to be Mr. Fudd right?”

Verian snapped her mind back to reality as she replied, “Yeah, how is he, where is he?”

“He… isn’t doing too well.”

“What did you say?”

Verian’s face instantly turned inhumanly pale. She looked as white as paper.

“Don’t be too depressed, perhaps…”

Verian grew even more emotional after hearing the nurse say that. She pulled her covers away and wanted to get out of her bed to see Heaton. She exclaimed, “I want to see him! Let me go see him, nurse!”

“You can’t get out of the bed now! Don’t come down! You…”

Verian teared up from being so frantic as she immediately ripped the infusion tube off the back of her hand and was not bothered by the bleeding as she ran off completely barefoot.

After Verian ran out of the patient’s ward, she was looking everywhere for Heaton.

“Heaton! Heaton!”

She asked any random person she could find in the hallway, “Do you know where Heaton Fudd’s ward is?”

Everyone in the hallway thought she was mad or having a mental disability because of her frantic behavior and her being dressed in a patient’s uniform.

The nurse chased after her, “Miss Mont! Verian Mont! Hurry up and stop her! It’ll be bad for her to run like this!”

Verian asked a few nurses and finally one was willing to tell her that Heaton was currently in room nine.

Verian ran to room nine. However, the moment she arrived at the door, she noticed the doctors and nurses wheeling a corpse covered in a white sheet out of the room.

Every drop of Verian’s blood in her body felt as if they were frozen solid.

This… was this Heaton?

“Excuse me, miss, we need to pass.”

When Verian stared at the body covered in a white sheet, beads of tears began to fall out of her eyes.

Heaton carried her in his arms, stared intensely at her with his dark eyes and whispered, “Your husband isn’t dead and yet you’re causing a scene here. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”

His voice was very soft but his gaze felt warm and he looked gentle at the bottom of his eyes.

Verian was stunned as she stared at him. She could not react to it for a couple of seconds as she said, “You… you’re actually okay?”

“If I’m not then how can I carry you so easily then?

Verian was speechless.

Verian stared blankly at him with her messy mix of tears and snot.

“I...I...I thought he… he…”

Verian pointed at the corpse that was covered by a white sheet. She stuttered while her tiny face began to blush heavier.

She was embarrassed, speechless, and helpless…

Heaton pressed her tear-stained wet face into his chest and said, “Madam Fudd, don’t say anything if you feel embarrassed.”

Verian obediently buried herself into him.

Heaton told the doctors and the people who were spectating the scene, “Sorry, my wife made a mistake.”

After that, he left the crowd immediately.

Leaving behind a group of confused people.

Everyone was speculating if that woman earlier had a mental disability since she rushed out bare feet while wailing and causing a scene as if that victim was actually her husband.

Truly… an oddity.

Heaton carried Verian back to his room.

It was only after that did Verian raised her tiny face. The tears were not dried from her face and she looked like a complete mess.

“This, what exactly is going on?”

Heaton stared back at her teasingly as he said, “Riana, who were you calling an irresponsible man earlier?

He felt that he absolutely loved her and was extremely loyal to her.
