Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) novel Chapter 1150

Jaired yawned, propping his head with one hand while pointing towards a distant mound with his finger.

"Over there, there's an old hideout I dug up ages ago. It leads down to a cellar with enough supplies for a week. Whether you make it, Ms. Sarah, well, that’s up to luck now."

Jaired chuckled softly, tossing the gun he held towards her.

"You can't escape. The rescue team had everything planned out, but you, my dear, threw a wrench in their plans."

Sarah was supposed to be saved. She felt a pang of regret but couldn't just stand by and watch Orla die. If Simone's child was still out there, Orla might be his only family left.

She had pitied Simone's fate and feared the wrath of the Saudi royals, so she had to cut ties with Simone. Now, given the chance to save Simone's sister, Sarah would do so, even if it meant risking her own life. To be Simone's guardian angel, she was prepared to commit for life.

Little did Sarah know that one day, Simone's child would become her son-in-law. Such is the cycle of karma. Everything seemed destined.

In King's world, Brielle indeed seemed fragile, a delicate little being who would cry when hugged too tightly. Bullied by him, she would only threaten him with teary eyes, and her occasional retaliatory scratches felt more like tickles. Such a beautiful creature, he thought, should be kept in a splendid cage. Or nourished with power and wealth, for she seemed too delicate to withstand any hardship.

Unlike Max, King wished to control everything about Brielle, including her emotions and every thought. He almost wished he could know everything about her. Max's understanding of love, however, was to let go. Just like back in Beaconsfield, he knew that place couldn't hold her, so he never stopped her, no matter what she did. Even when he knew she would face threats, he was confident in her wisdom to turn the tides in her favor. He was built on rationality, always able to make the best judgment at the most appropriate times. Lacking the passion and impulsiveness of King. But he knew, that was something he had willingly forsaken.

"King, you need to learn to trust her." Trust her to understand her true feelings. Without trust, he would never see what Brielle was willing to offer. Max was giving him this time, allowing Brielle to heal his suspicions and also giving Brielle the chance to soothe Isaac's insecurities. Unless he relinquished control over his body to King, their emotional barriers would remain unbroken. Only through interaction and understanding could their barriers gradually dissolve. This wasn’t something Max could simply fix with a few words. Besides, Brielle was already slowly lowering her defenses around this capricious man. Both were yet to realize this, though.
