Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 407

Chapter 407: So Stupid Even the Staff Couldn’t Watch Anymore

No one dared to speak.

Owen was the most spoiled son of the Reid Family. Selina was Mrs. Reid. When titans clash, it’s the small fry who get crushed—so the room fell into an eerie silence.

Owen assumed Selina was intimidated. He stepped forward, thinking he had momentum.

"You’ve got nothing to say? Standing in front of a veteran, don’t you feel even a little ashamed?"

"Ashamed?"

Selina chuckled lightly, then looked at Jett with a subtle, amused expression.

"I’m curious—this Perry designer who’s twenty years my senior—what actual credentials do you have?"

Jett Perry exchanged a look with Owen, then cleared his throat and couldn’t hide the smugness in his eyes.

"Well, since Ms. Clark is curious, I’ll just give a quick rundown."

"I won an Honorable Mention at the 5th Global Eisen Design Competition."

Selina: "...?"

Jett took Selina’s silence as awe and smugly continued.

"Seems Ms. Clark isn’t familiar with what the Eisen Competition represents? No matter. As a senior, let me educate you."

"The Eisen Design Competition is an international event that tests a designer’s overall capabilities. Contestants come from all over the world. Winning even an Honorable Mention means you’re at the top of your field—at least domestically."

He gave her a deliberately condescending smirk.

"I wonder—what accomplishments does Ms. Clark have in comparison?"

—If you haven’t achieved anything, just hand over the department head position like a good little placeholder.

Selina paused. "You’re right, I’ve never won an Honorable Mention."

Jett lit up with triumph and wasted no time flaunting his credentials.

"You’re a designer, so you’ve probably heard of the international design magazine H.G., haven’t you? H.G. has officially accepted one of my pieces for their upcoming issue—I’ll have half a page all to myself. How about you, Ms. Clark?"

These were Jett’s proudest achievements.

An Honorable Mention from Eisen.

A feature in H.G. Magazine.

To many designers, that was a career’s worth of glory.

With a resume this "impressive," how could he not dominate Selina?

Even if that resume was built on smoke and mirrors—because let’s be real, Jett was just a trophy designer. The Perry Family’s wealth and connections could buy him a résumé. His team did all the work while he took the credit.

Owen burst out laughing. "See, sis-in-law? My uncle’s credentials speak for themselves. No one’s going to question him in that seat. As for you... maybe come back when you’ve got the chops. This industry values experience."

"Exactly," Jett said confidently. "Ms. Clark, I’m twenty years older than you. You should take advantage of your youth, gain more experience, collect a few more awards. If someday you surpass me, I’ll gladly step aside."

"But for now, I’ll ask you to resign and hand over the department head role."

What was Jett thinking? That Logan—the illegitimate mutt—had no right to hog Reid Group and Reid Corp to himself. Sure, Logan built Reid Group from the ground up—but so what? He was a Reid. Every resource should be passed to Owen. That was only fair, right?

Just like how Anna had "sacrificed" herself for Amelia back then—perfectly justified in the Perry Family’s eyes.

Selina didn’t move. Her brow arched slightly.

"So what you’re saying, Mr. Perry, is that as long as I’m more qualified than you, you’ll step down willingly?"

"I’m just curious—how are we defining ’more qualified’? Because I might just be better than you already."
