Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 398

Chapter 398: Everyone Adores Selina, Okay?

"Plus-one?"

Technically, yes—guests could bring a plus-one. But...

"Aren’t you afraid people will say you’re living off your wife?"

Logan raised an eyebrow.

"Let them talk. Most of them wish they were in my position."

Selina: "..." She was starting to feel like Logan’s shamelessness was reaching new heights.

...

On the day of the banquet – at the Brown Family estate:

Brown Group had recently moved from City N to City A. The current heads of the family—also famous actor Damien’s parents—were powerful and well-known. Naturally, their move attracted a crowd of well-wishers.

Selina had just stepped out of the car when she overheard some whispers nearby.

"Did you guys hear the gossip? Brown Family didn’t send Mr. Reid an invitation!"

That one sentence caused a stir.

"What? No way! I heard they even sent one to Owen—he just didn’t have the guts to show up."

"Exactly. Both Amelia and Owen got invited, but not Mr. Reid? Are the Browns siding with Owen or something?"

"Actually, I heard it’s nothing like that. Supposedly, Damien and Mr. Reid have some personal beef. After all, Selina still got an invitation."

"Huh... so that means Selina’s here alone?"

Everyone fell into thoughtful silence.

Right—Logan wasn’t present, and Selina had cut ties with the Morris Family. So today, she was attending solo. That... had to feel a little bleak.

"I heard Chairman Morris and Grandma Morris are here, too. And they brought some young lady from a side branch—she’s been glued to Grandma Morris like she’s her real granddaughter!"

Selina listened with growing amusement.

So this was the Morris Family’s game plan.

They wanted her to see firsthand the kind of privileges that came with being one of them.

She was about to lean in for more gossip when everyone around her suddenly went quiet.

She looked up—and saw why. The Morris Family’s car had arrived.

The driver opened the door. First out was Joe, then Grandma Morris, and finally a young woman Selina had never seen before.

She looked to be in her early twenties and followed timidly behind Joe.

Despite the recent scandals, the Morris Family was still City H’s number-one family. No one dared to be disrespectful.

As Joe headed toward the main entrance, the crowd instinctively stepped aside to make way.

And right there, standing at the entrance, was Selina—about to go in herself.

Joe hesitated, as if unsure whether to speak.

But Grandma Morris didn’t give him the chance.

"Move. We’re going in first." Her voice was cool and commanding.

Selina raised her brows. Oh? Let’s see what kind of show they’re about to put on.

"Sure," she said, stepping aside.

Grandma Morris didn’t even glance at her. Instead, she turned to the girl beside her with a smile.

"Sandy, come on. Don’t be nervous. You’re a Morris—of course people make way for you."

People exchanged awkward glances.

Joe looked uncomfortable. He mumbled, "Selina..."

Grandma Morris cut him off.

"Sandy, you need to be smart. See? When you’re a true daughter of the Morris Family, you have special treatment wherever you go. Some people chose to walk away from the Morris name—so now, they just have to wait in line."

She gave Selina a cold, sidelong glance. "Isn’t that right, Selina?"

"Mom..." Joe swayed slightly on his feet.

Selina watched the Morris Family perform with great interest, then calmly nodded. "Oh. Go ahead. I’ll keep waiting in line."

"Selina, you don’t have to—"

"Hmph! Some people don’t appreciate kindness. Fine. Sandy, let’s go."

Sandy Morris looked uncomfortable. She bit her lip and said softly,
