Just One Kiss Before Divorcing Me (Martin and Calvin) novel Chapter 85

Calvin

He left the hotel with Wil to go and buy a phone, where he just sat in the passenger seat and stared out the window. Everything he’d done had only further ruined his chances of getting closer to Marilyn and their boys.

She’d not seen it as him trying to show her his generous side at all. She only saw it as him looking for a way

to snatch up their boys from her, and take them for himself, likely also thought that would see her come to him, which in all likelihood it would have, though with the police following her.

That had not been his intent or his purpose at all.

He was, still it seemed, ruining everything. She’d stated out right, she’d just up and leave once more, just vanish away and take the boys with her as well. He didn’t want that at all, he wanted for her to get to know him and him to get to know her, Marilyn, a woman that had once been but was no longer Marrin.

Though some part of Marilyn had to have been inside Marrin, for her to change her name to that, Marilyn obviously was the writer side of Marrin, and she’d been doing that before they were divorced, so technically Marilyn was Marrin in some way. He just didn’t know that side of her.

“You’d better not be plotting and planning over there, Calvin.” Wil’s voice interrupted his thoughts.

“I’m not.” He answered simply. “I can’t do anything right where she is concerned.” He finally admitted to himself that he likely knew very little about his wife other than how to please her in the bedroom. And it hurt

is wife

him to say those words out loud.

“Baby steps, Calvin. That is what you need to do, take baby steps, not giant leaps to breach an unknown depth. Tentative baby steps to test the waters is all.”

“She could and will just up and leave like Marrin did,” he muttered.

“Yes,” Wil admitted. “She is Marrin way down deep in the depths of Marilyn, so that is kind of to be expected that they will react the same, huh!”

“I guess so.” Calvin sighed.

“Because you went about this all the wrong way, just like you did back then. When you believed, she’d understand your intent. When she couldn’t possibly do that because you never told her what it was you actually wanted from her. That is where you’re going wrong.”

“She’ll never believe me now, Wil. I’ll be lucky if she’ll let me ever have the boys, even for a day.” Calvin muttered. Knew it to be true because if he was her, he wouldn’t.

“Brought that one on yourself though, now didn’t you? I told you I was working on it and all you had to do was wait.” Wil shook his head.

“I didn’t want to wait. Eight bloody years of waiting.” Calvin huffed.

“Yes, everyone is aware of your impatience, and just where has it gotten you?” Wil asked.

No where,” Calvin admitted.

“Correct, so now Calvin, we’ll do this my way, her way, and you will learn to have patience, yes?

“Do I have a choice right now!” he muttered rhetorically, because he knew the answer was no

“Look at it from her point of view, please Calvin. Stop being selfish and putting yourself first. You do reallea that is all you’ve done right? Never once put Marilyn or the boys first. Perhaps this is Marilyn’s way of getting

you to do that.”

“What do you mean?” Clavin turned and looked at him with a frown. All he’d gotten in that room was she didn’t like him, wanted nothing to do with him and was begrudgingly not going to reissue a new restraining

order.

“Well, she didn’t leave the room now, did she, even when she stood up to do so,” Wil commented.

“Because I begged her not to,” Calvin stated flatly.

“Yes, you did, think about that… you didn’t demand it of her, and you even said please. Now what happened when you did that? I believe she listened Calvin. I think Marilyn is more than reasonable, just has a fear of you and not even you can blame her for that now can you?Wil pulled the car up in a parking space as Calvin shook his head no.

Now here you have it, her agreeing again to this, it is another step in the right direction. It should show you she’s willing to work this out and show her you’re going to comply, with her wants and needs to feel safe. In fact, it will I believe, bring about the first steps of building trust between you and her.” Wil smiled at him and got out of the car.

“Yes and you don’t like it now, do you? How do you think she felt when you stalked her?” Wil chuckled and Calvin frowned at him. “Perhaps Calvin, it’s a little bit of payback on her behalf. She actually knows how it feels, now she can make you feel that. Show you just how uncomfortable that is to know someone is out there tracking you.”

Calvin sighed, it could be for all he knew, “The phone.” He stated, he deserved to feel this uncomfortable, so he would just deal with it.

“It will be in your name, registered to you, and you’ll pay the bills for it. I suggest you buy what you’d get for yourself. Don’t skimp, I dare say it’ll be the boys that have it, not Marilyn.”

“Regardless of the situation, a judge will grant you joint custody in all likelihood. At first, for you, it’s likely to come with restrictions, due to your behavior, but you won’t be denied your rights completely. She’s likely prepping for that very moment already.”

et up to himself

“No… though if the boys or Marilyn call you, I’d pick up regardless of where you are or what you are doing, don’t ignore it,” Wil told him, “Come on, let’s get coffee and sit and find load the app and set it up to your phone… We’ll put your number and my number in it, in case of an emergency.” Wil smiled at him.

“I honestly don’t know, I could ask if you like.” Wil stated, “I’m certain she will tell me without issue.Though not even he’d thought about that very question until right this very minute, though now something itched at him as he sat there in the café and sorted out that family app, Wil even let himself be added to it, chuckled and stated “More fun for the boys to track two people, I also move about more than you at times. Off to court and all.”

“Then they likely get along just fine. She’s probably like an aunt to them.” Wil nodded and leaned back in his chair. “I wonder if I can get them to call me Uncle Wil. I know Anabell will want to be an Aunty to them.” He smiled right at Calvin.
