CH 36
Lisa
She was looking for Marilyn, she’d left the conference room to go and call the boys and had yet to come back. Mr. Reeves‘ lawyer was it appeared, quite reasonable to deal with, and had apologised for any emotional trauma to both of Marilyn’s children, not that he knew they were Marilyn’s
Though Marilyn had told her and Hamilton that she did not want either of her boys’ names mentioned at all
within this meeting.
She had stated flatly “It’s none of Mr Reeves‘ business to know anything about my children, not their age. name or if they are boys or girls for that matter. So just leave them out of it.”
Marilyn was in fact actually willing to walk away from all of this, after she got that apology from Mr Peeves. because she didn’t want anything from him at all, and didn’t want to have anything to do with him. She just wanted him to go away and leave her alone.
Though that picture of him and his ex–wife, Marrin, had shown just how much of a dead ringer she was for the woman, and after all Lisa had heard this morning, during his lawyers‘ press release. She now knew that Mrs Reeves had seemed to just vanish into thin air, and with those comments now about Marilyn’s birth certificate, as well. That only seemed to make one Calvin Reeves think she was actually Marrin even more. Lisa’s mind was now racing as she thought about that very thing herself, all the little coincidences that were starting to mount up. She did know Marilyn had amnesia, and recalled absolutely nothing of her past, prior to her waking up in the ICU of that hospital in Virginia.
She also now knew that it was right around the time that Calvin Reeves‘ ex–wife had gone missing. She’d have to actually check the exact dates of those two things and see if they did correlate completely, but she wouldn’t be telling this man or his lawyer about it, even if it did. He was from all she’d seen a nasty piece of
work
Though those two men seated across from her,had no idea Marilyn suffered from amnesia, something that had not affected her life as an author at all, it just seemed to render her unable to recall anything before waking up in the hospital was all. It was likely that if Marilyn was Mapin, she actually wanted to forget that part of her life and had chosen before the accident to live as Marilyn so upon waking up, she had simply become just Marilyn.
She couldn’t see Marilyn anywhere, and she didn’t think she’d go far. She frowned as she looked about, and was about to call her when she saw Wil come rushing out of the room they’d been in. He was supposed to be in there with Hamilton working on an agreement.
Dout
He’d wanted to bring Calvin back into the room once more, without Marilyn there. He’d said someth without Marilyn in the room, Calvin could be level–headed and very reasonable. That her very presence and how much she looked like his ex–wife affected the man’s judgement.
She watched as Wil rushed down the hallway in the other direction and her gut instinct told her something was wrong, and she herself headed off down the hall after him. There was no Marilyn and no Calvin out in this hallway. Where were they?
Would that crazy man actually physically harm Marilyn if they were alone somewhere? She didn’t honestly
know, but alerts were going off in her brain and she thought he just might.
She pulled the door open to the conference room as she came to it and looked at Hamilton “Something is wrong. Calvin’s lawyer just rushed off, and I can’t see Marilyn anywhere.” She stated and rushed off down the hallway herself, and pushed right into the exit stairwell that she’d seen Wil go into
Only to come to a halt at the top of the stairs at the sight of Marilyn’s crumpled body on the landing below, and both Calvin and his lawyer Wil were standing there looking down at her body. She gasped at the sight of her and they both turned to look at her, and she registered guilt on Calvin Reeves‘ face, and just knew he had
done this.
“Get the hell away from her,” she yelled at them both, as she rushed down the stairs and knelt next to Marilyn to check her pulse. She looked at her dishevelled state and hurriedly fixed her skirt to cover her legs. She knew Marilyn hardly ever wore short sleeves or anything but long pants and skirts, to cover her scars.
She always covered them, and not because she was ashamed of them, but because people stared openly and then whispered loudly about them, to those around her. Everyone that saw them was curious as to how she had gotten them.
Lisa could see that there was blood on her legs as she covered them over, and it bled through the material of her white skirt. There was nothing she could do about it. She was just trying to keep the woman’s dignity intact was all, at this moment in time. Her top had rips to it on the arms, and she could see there was blood on the side of her face. She reached out to check it and was told “Don’t move her.” by both of the men standing there.
She heard Hamilton swear and stomp down the stairs even as Calvin stated “911 stated not to move her in case her neck or back is injured. They are sending paramedics as we speak.”
Her eyes were on him, angry now, “You did this, you’re so f*****g obsessed with any woman that looks like your ex, that you harassed and assaulted Marilyn, and now you’ve tried to kill her too.”
“I did not, I would never do that.” Calvin stated right back.
“Oh, really!” she stood up and yelled at him. “Then how the hell did she end up at the bottom of the stairs looking like this? Unconscious and broken, and you just happen to be the only one here. A man that doesn’t
like her.”
“Good, I hope they record everything you and your lawyer have said, so we can use it in a court of law against you,” Lisa grated out.
