Crushed Affections (Dominic and Bella) novel Chapter 411

Bella thought about the photo and turned her head, pretending not to recognize Dominic. He walked up to her and stopped. "Glad I wasn't late. They haven't started yet, right?"

Bella stayed silent, but Cara answered for her, "Not yet, but it's our turn soon."

Dominic rubbed his temples, feeling a bit of a headache when he noticed her sour mood. "Ian called me last night, which is why the call dropped. You were probably asleep, so I didn't bother calling back."

He shouldn't have said anything. As soon as he did, Bella felt even worse. She couldn't help herself. "How early did you wake up for this? You don't have to force yourself to accompany me. Staying up all night isn't good for your health."

Dominic picked up on what Bella was trying to say. He paused briefly, then said, "I only stopped by for a while. I didn't do anything I wasn't supposed to."

Bella muttered under her breath, "It's got nothing to do with me. There's no need for you to explain."

Moments like this really got to Dominic. He was curious about how she knew. "Who told you? If I did something, I'd own up to it. If not, don't just throw stuff at me."

Bella took a deep breath and gave him a look that conveyed that she couldn't care less. "No one's throwing anything at you. I told you—it's not any of my business. If you came to keep me company for the prenatal checkup, I'll thank you on behalf of the baby. If you're here to make things worse, there's no need for that."

Cara shot Dominic a quick look, signaling him to keep quiet. Bella was already in a bad mood. Cara was sure that anything more would lead to an argument.

Dominic was frustrated. He bit his lip to keep from arguing further.

After the checkup, Dominic told Cara to go home while he took Bella to Royal Cuisine for breakfast. She had to fast for the tests, so she was starving. Now that she was pregnant, she couldn't skip a meal without feeling miserable.

Bella focused on her food, barely acknowledging his presence. Her expression was so indifferent that it seemed like he didn't even exist.

Dominic couldn't stand the atmosphere. "How long are you going to keep this up? I've put up with the three years abroad, and now I can't handle it for a couple of months while you're pregnant. Stop giving me the cold shoulder. I'm not going to put up with it. Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean I'll let you walk all over me."

Bella shot him a side-eye. Had he been single all three years he was abroad? She wasn't falling for his trap. There was no way that she was getting all emotional over it. He wasn't staying pure for her. She knew that much.
