Crushed Affections (Dominic and Bella) novel Chapter 390

Lia was speechless. "What are you billing him for? Look at how stingy you are. I don't care. I'll still eat them!"

After the commotion, Bella began to feel tired. "I'm going to rest. Dominic, if you're busy, you can go."

Dominic helped her into the bedroom. "I'm not busy. I'll stay with you for a while."

Something about his tone felt off to her. She whispered, "You don't have to stay just for me…"

He corrected her seriously, "I'm staying for the child. There's no reason for you to feel uneasy."

She mentally rolled her eyes, annoyed. "I can't sleep with you watching me."

"Who says I want to watch you? You're not much to look at anyway," he answered, amused yet sarcastic.

Bella gritted her teeth. "Then you'd better hope we don't have a son because sons usually take after their moms."

Dominic pondered momentarily before responding, "Let's have a girl. She can take after me."

Bella tossed and turned for a while, unable to fall asleep. Meanwhile, Dominic sat on the side of the bed, casually checking his phone for work.

Upon noticing her restlessness, he asked, "Are you a fish? What's with all the tossing around?"

Bella gathered her courage and kicked him in the side. "You're the fish! I can't sleep with you sitting there."

Without wasting a beat, he turned off his phone and lay beside her. "How about now?"

After a brief moment of eye contact, she moved away slightly. "Aren't you busy? You don't have to stay and watch me sleep."

After leaving the apartment, Dominic sat in his car and smoked a cigarette before leaving.

When he returned to his office, he saw Ian and raised his chin slightly at him. "You're free today."

Ian casually flipped through a magazine from his office and replied, "Of course. What else would I do? Fight for the family fortune? My stepmom's pregnant!"

He spoke as if it were someone else's business, with no sense of care or emotional tie to the past.

Dominic found it funny. "I can't believe your dad is still having children at his age."

Ian closed the magazine and explained, "My dad had a vasectomy ages ago. Officially, they called it a vasectomy, but the truth is, he can't have kids anymore."

Dominic raised an eyebrow at his statement. "Looks like trouble is brewing in your family. That's why you shouldn't be sitting around here like you have nothing to do. Go back and comfort your dad. While you're at it, secure the family fortune for yourself. It's only a matter of time. There's no point dragging it out."
