Chapter 211

Erin’s POV

Derek’s lips brushed agains

red marks on my neck, sending tingles of electricity down my spine despite the lingering pain from his earlier grip. His touch was gentle now, almost reverenta stark contrast to the fury that had consumed him minutes before.

I shouldn’t have reacted that way,he said, his voice a low rumble against my skin. I turned to face him, searching those steelgray eyes for somethingremorse, tenderness, anything that might tell me what he was truly feeling. But his expression remained carefully controlled, giving away little beyond his words.

Why didn’t I see in his eyes what I hoped to find? What I needed to see? My body was still responding to his closeness, a warmth spreading through me that had nothing to do with the fading pain.

You should rest,Derek said, stepping back slightly. Tomorrow we need to return to Darkwood Pack for a pack meeting.

I reached out impulsively, catching his hand before he could move away completely. The contact sent a jolt through me, and I noticed his jaw tighten slightly. Today is your birthday,I said softly, my voice barely above a whisper.

Derek’s expression shifted almost imperceptibly. Pack Alphas don’t celebrate birthdays with cake, he replied, his tone matteroffact. It’s a bit childish. I’m not accustomed to these human traditions.

I stood there, momentarily stunned by his words. My heart ached for himnot because he’d hurt me, but because of what his words revealed. It seemed that after becoming Alpha, no one had allowed him to enjoy a normal life beyond managing the pack and company.

I spent all day preparing this,I said, tugging him gently toward the sofa where the cake waited, illuminated by the soft glow of candles. My fingers lingered on his wrist, feeling his pulse quicken beneath my touch. Please cut the cake for me. You don’t have to celebrateI’ll celebrate for you.

Derek followed, his reluctance evident but yielding to my persistence. As we approached the table, I watched his eyes take in the details of the cakecrafted from white chocolate with green frosting forming a forest scene. Two wolf figures stood in the centera male and female, clearly representing Derek and me.

You are the Alpha of the Darkwood Pack, the leader of everyone,I explained, my voice gaining confidence as I moved closer to him, aware of how my dress clung to my curves. But to me, you’re not just the Alpha. You’re my Alpha.

Derek’s expression remained stoic, but he nodded once. Alright,he said simply.

That single word filled my heart with happiness. I beamed at him, momentarily forgetting the tension that had permeated the room just minutes earlier. The way he looked at me made my skin tingle with anticipation.

I lit the main candle in the center of the cake, its flame dancing in the dim light of the suite. Close your eyes and make a few wishes, I instructed, then blow it out.

Derek looked at me skeptically, then reached forward and pinched the flame between his fingers, extinguishing it without ceremony.

I have no wishes to fulfill,he stated, his eyes catching mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. As Alpha, I already have everything I want. For a brief moment, his eyes flashed with a hint of gold as they lingered on me, traveling down my body in a way that made heat pool in my lower abdomen.

My cheeks flushed under his intense gaze. Was his wolf looking at me? I wondered if he said this because he still thought I was angry with him. But his admission that he cared enough to worry about me made my heart race, and the way he was looking at me nowlike he wanted to devour mesent shivers down my spine.

I handed Derek the knife, clapping excitedly as he cut into the cake. Taking a small piece, I lifted it to his lips, watching with delight as be accepted my offering. The way his lips closed around my fingers made my pulse quicken. He then returned the gesture, feeding me a bite of cake. As I savored the sweetness, I felt his eyes on me, observant and intense.

Chapter 211

You have cake on your face,he said, his wolf’s keen perception noticing what I’d missed. I quickly wiped at my mouth, but he shook his head slightly. Other side.

After cleaning the wrong spot, I looked up at him questioningly. “Is it gone now?

No,Derek said, his voice dropping an octave, becoming rougher. Let me help you. Before I could respond, he leaned forward, his face inches from mine. You asked me to wipe it. As Alpha, 1 decide how to wipe it.

His tongue darted out, licking away the frosting at the corner of my mouth with deliberate slowness. The contact was brief but electrifying, and I could see the change in his eyesthe gray giving way to gold as his wolf responded to the intimate gesture.

I can feel it,he whispered against my ear, his voice rough with desire. You’re wet for me already. His hand moved to my exposed leg, fingers trailing along the bare skin revealed by my dress’s cut. His eyes now blazed dangerously golden, no longer hiding the wolf within. You’ve been teasing me all night in this fucking dress.
