After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1425

Chapter 1425: Goblin Dormitory (Part 1)

A few hours later, the work hours ended with everyone finishing their shifts. They would either head home to rest or pass by other places to have fun first.

Many goblins who had already assimilated were somewhere having fun, while some decided to go home first for a short repose before heading out to dinner.

The newcomers who had just come from Iron Mountains were particularly giddy to explore the place. They had heard Alterra was very different, but they didn’t understand exactly how different it was just from the stories.

Here, they were welcomed everywhere, and they didn’t receive those subtle disgusted looks. In Iron Mountains, although it had greatly improved, especially when many Alterrans moved in, there were still many places where they felt extremely unwelcome.

For example, they would feel this in certain situations where they would do things that humans would. For example, when buying things like groceries for a brethren’s birthday. Even if they went as a large group to handle the attention, they would still experience this.

Sometimes, while they were lining up, the people behind them tutted and sneered.

"Can you even afford that?" one would ask. "You didn’t steal money from your master, did you?"

Or there would even be times people would claim they saw them stealing like rats that they were, but fortunately, they’d be cleared of charges simply because of the strict no-thieving rule that applied in the territory. In contrast, those people were even punished for wrongfully ruining their reputation!

These were fairly common occurrences that still happened every once in a while. They were used to it, and in fact, they appreciated that it wasn’t as common as before. However, many Alterrans who found out about it were extremely aghast in their stead.

They would yell "stop this racist shit!" or something like that, though the goblins had no idea what that meant.

Anyway, the times Linlin nearly got into a fight when someone was mean to them were more than their fingers combined.

"I wonder when Linlin will visit us, she said she would," Hoho mumbled as he rearranged the new rock sculpture on the center table. It was something he fiddled with last night when they arrived. He was just so excited and couldn’t sleep, so he ended up taking his carving tools out of his space.

The sculpture was about a foot high with a rough form of Linlin, raising one arm as if ready to fight. She was surrounded by many little goblins smaller than her waist, also raising their hands, and also ready to fight. freewebnøvel_com

He was now in one of the Goblin Dormitories in the Town. In Iron Mountains, there were more goblins so it wasn’t a surprise they had their own place. However, that was more like many of the people there simply did not want to mingle with them. Them moving out of the dormitories and into where humans were would often be met with deep frowns from the locals.

The Alterrans were nice to them, but they’d usually be living in better-off neighborhoods simply because they all had their own businesses planned out before they dared venture into a new territory. They also had a lot of subsidies as rewards for migrating.
